Dads RS7 gets some new front fenders

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I chose to go with some 295/30 tires all the way around on 10" wheels for better traction and while they fit "okay" they stick out from the front fenders a small amount. I can't tuck them in any closer so that also means I can't lower it because it would hit the fenders. I went on line and found some after market front fenders from BKS that are over 1" wider and believe it or not they fit great. I thought it would be worth the effort if they look good and fit good. Yes, they need some work but after being painted and fitted properly they will look stock and no one will know the difference which is what I prefer.

    Stock:

    Pretty close inside:

    New fenders in process:

Sorry the last one was blurry. I'll get better as they progress.
Should be able to space these out with a 10-20mm spacer and get the 295 under there easily and possibly a 315 on an 11" wheel. Only time will tell.

I also need a set of drag radials that are slightly taller than these so I will have to space them out to go any taller.
I'll keep you posted. Keep modifying and be safe!

    God Bless,
    Keith

    i suppose these won't be identical/fit the S6 C7 pre facelift model? :s (couldn't find them on the bks site..only for A6 4F)
Price is very good, tought the stock fenders was around same price..of one fender!

I'm sure pictures doesn't do justice to how wide she is now :) (+6cm over RS7 wide? damn)

When I had my C63 I remember coming across the build on yours. That was/is a bad car. The R8 is too. I had one as well but it just a V8 with a 6 speed manual. Your new project looks awesome!

Do you live in MD? If so, where? We are moving back to MD/DC this weekend after 15 years in Florida.

All four of the wheels on the car are 20x10" with a +30 offset. That works perfect for the front for maximum fit with the least amount beyond the stock fender as the pictures above show. However, the rear has a good amount of space behind them with the exception of a bleeder valve. Pic below.

If you move the bleeder valve back an inch you now have plenty of space to run a 10-1/2" or 11" wheel and stay within the rear fenders. You may already know that but if not, now you do. As I learn little tricks like this I'll keep you included. I can now run an 18 x 10.5" on the rear with the 305-40 Mickey Thompson drag radials.

How much clearance do you have at the front from the tyre and upper arm? Do you think that will rub when cornering hard?

All we did was run up and down the drag strip and some street driving. NO extreme road or track racing. NO rubbing at this point.

    Fenders Complete

Sanford Paint and Body did a great job!! Yes, they took some extra work, but WOW!!
Same tires and wheels except with a 25mm spacer behind them. The new wheels will be 11" wide with no spacers. The new front tires will be Nitto 315/30R20 R888. They will fit the new wheels better because they will not budge out as much and therefore fit under the fenders better.

The front bumper will "lean" out as needed to match up. Its flexible enough to bolt right up. (no mods required)

The only mod required is the inner liner needs a lip to attach to so the body shop created a small lip and it worked perfectly.

Quote Originally Posted by hex808 View Post

The front lip fit perfectly. The shop was surprised how easy it went on with no adjustments.

All in all its very good and I am happy!!

On the rear they moved the bleeder valves completely out of the way so the 10.5" or 11" wheel will fit and stay inside the rear fenders. New wheels are ordered and being made so I hope someone wants these quickly. They need to go, please.

    New 18" rear wheels

I received the test fit wheel from Forgeline and the 18" fits great with no clearance problems anywhere. With the bleeder valve moved there is plenty of room behind it to take the full 1/2" wider wheel all to the inside.
The new rear wheels will be 18 x 10.5 with the Mickey Thompson 305/40R18 drag radials.

Bleeder valve moved back out of the way. They cut the stock bracket off and re-welded it in place back lower and back.

We'll see where it goes from here.
