    Looking for a VAG-COM code

    I would like the fog lights (both front and back) to turn on automatically with the car. Is this at all possible? I've searched various vagcom lists but couldn't find exactly what I need.

    Why would you do that? they're pretty bright and would annoy other drivers TBH. Shouldn't use them unless it's foggy.

    You definitely don't want the rears to turn on automatically. You need to set the fronts as drl for them to come on when you start the car. Setting them as drl is located in the vag com sticky.

    Enable DRL
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 2
    Bit 1 = DRL via Front Side markers
    Bit 2 = DRL via High Beams
    Bit 3 = DRL via Fogs
    Bit 4 = DRL via LEDs
    Bit 6 = DRL via Side markers
    Bit 7 = DRL via Tail lights

    I have the OEM fog bulbs which are pretty tame (in my opinion) I run them ON all the time and never had complaints.

    I'm curious as to why I shouldn't run them ON at all time? They're pretty small.. The reason I want them ON is visibility: I have tinted taillights and want to be as visible as possible.

    I'm currently always in Auto mode and I'm using the car mainly during the day so the headlights are pretty much off at all time. When I manually open the fog, the low beams, LED contour and side marker (+ fogs of course) are turning on. This is pretty much what I would like to acheive whilst keeping the Auto mode on, since I prefer the lights turning off by themselves when I shut down the car. Would settings the fogs as DRL still do what I want to achieve?

    It's just not recommend to run the rears as they are to bright and annoying.

    I know when in auto certain light functions vary as opposed to being in the on position. Setting your fogs as drl will act like your regular drl's do. So yes it should turn on and off with the car.

    The fronts are one thing. But don't do the rear unless you want to turn into a german car owning tool. I hate when people who own german cars run the rear fog when conditions don't call for it. Its annoying.

    Also, I'm not sure if the design was improved on the B8.5, but I completely melted the fog light housings on my B8. I used the fog lights a lot, but definitely not 100% of the time.

    +1. OEM rear-fog lights are really bright (great for tailgaters), and you would likely cause a road-rage incident if you drove around with them all the time.
