RS4 Clutch on a 3.0/ new addition to the family.

So I bought an 03 avant for my wife yesterday, 3.0, manual, and previously enthusiast owned for $3800, however, the thing desperately needs a new clutch and starter. I've been getting some mixed information on the ability to run a b5 rs4 clutch with the stock 3.0 transmission and flywheel. Anyone have some btdt information they'd care to share?

I wouldn't be so dead set on this particular clutch, but I've had it before on a previous stage 3 A6, and I know how perfect it is for a daily driver......... and I'm considering a 2.7 swap since I happen to have an engine laying around in my garage so an rs4 clutch would match up to that engine perfectly.

Some threads I've read mention having to use the 2.7 transmission spacer, but I'm wondering if this would then affect motor to motor mount location, and possibly requisite a 2.7 starter and slave cylinder.

    Anyways. Pictures.

Car has been lowered, not sure on what, also has S4 full color lcd cluster, B7 console, symphony 2+ radio, and a bunch of other misc stuff. Looking forward to tinkering with it a bit.

I'm happy with it as it's a car my wife can have that we're not anal retentive about. We have an 05 A8L that is immaculate with 46k miles but it's just not practical for every day use as we're always worried about door dings etc. The a8 will be up for sale once I fix a few things and the a4 is its replacement.

This car originally had unpainted lowers but one of the previous owners rattle canned them. Apparently it looked good for a while, but doesn't look great now, particularly on the votex wing and rear bumper. Oh well, maybe I can find some already painted parts if I luck out.

Congrats, looks like someone did the tip to 6 speed swap looking at your steering wheel.

I don't know about the B5 RS4 clutch, but the JHM kit that uses the B7 RS4 clutch is pretty nice.

Turns out they didn't. The car is a factory 6 speed. After talking to the guy who did all the mods, it looks like the wheel was cheap and matched the interior better

No way! I have done the swap and those buttons drive me crazy. In the process of swapping in a A3 wheel. Round airbags are so spendy!

The ECS clutch does not list the 3.0 as a compatible engine.

According to Scotty this AA this might be possible using a 2.7 flywheel, pp and spacer, but he's never done it.

Starters have the same part number between 2.7 and 3.0 so starter would line up in the same place...

You may not believe this...but..that car has NOT been lowered. It's 100% OEM 2003 Sport suspension. Totally ridiculous.

And sorry about the antenna on the roof. But one of the wires to the rear antenna was broken by the window tint place, and I originally thought I could help the radio reception with another antenna. Didn't work out, but it's OEM and in the right place.
And maybe you can figure out why the drivers side memory seat quit working one day. All my investigation lead to nothing..can't remember which part decided to not work, but some small thing just quit and could never track it down. Tried a new module and new seat of switches and everything.

I was basing the lowered statement off what the last owner told me. Oh well. Maybe I could find some sport springs for the front to even it out a bit. That and maybe some avus. Multi spoke wheels are such a pain to clean.

I was wondering why the reception was so weird. After pulling the radio I figure it just needed a different antenna adapter. Don't really care much since there's an aux though :)

Did you have the Windows tinted then? Happen to remember percentages?

I have the sport springs off my USP I'll gladly trade you for those! If you wan't it up 3/4". I just put a set of H&R/ S4 spring on my USP and it lowered it exactly 1" from stock, which is nice for no rubbing on 19's. The 03' sport suspension is awesome though for OEM ride and almost too low for static year round driving.

I did have re windows tinted, same place as my last 3 cars..I'll look up the paperwork and see what it says just to be sure. But whatever it is, it's just as dark as you can do legally in Washington. That's why the front isn't as dark.

Hoping to get the front down 3/4" to 1". Eibach sport springs on stock sport shocks worked for me on my last Allroad.

B5 front spring perches are a popular solution

    All Over!

    I have fitted a B5 S4 clutch on a 2001 B6 3.0 sedan.

The original DM flywheel developed a nasty vibration, which was why the transmission was pulled. I opted for a B5 S4 single-mass steel flywheel from TTV. No spacer was required, it's about 10mm slimmer than a stock S4 DM.

Its probably a B5 RS4 clutch, the B7 RS4 has a different pressure plate hat, requires a flywheel thats machined differently.
