Thought I'd hardwire my onboard cam myself today. Removed the driverside fusebox cover to see that the fuses have a pink plastic cover thingy over them that is locked in place. I tried tugging on it, squeeze, move it sideways.. no bueno. Anybody know how to remove it because I cant tap the fuse with that cover/guard in place. Sorry if its a stupid question. Thanks for the help guys!

Just pull harder, it will come out. Pull closed to the edges, not in the middle. Small flat screwdriver pushing on pins from underneath outwards can help too.

Just installed my dash cam yesterday. The other 2 come out easy. The third was a bitch, but a mini prybar got it off. If you are going to install a dashcam, I recommend the homelink fuse slot (7.5A in mine). I used a fuse tap and routed the cable up the A-pillar. It was tough to get off, even with instructions.

You mind taking a pic of which fuse you tapped? Apparently I heard the extreme right column of fuses is all hot on ignition. But all are 5A on my car. Just want to make sure.

Will be installing my Blackview DR650GW that i used on previous car (a4 b8) soon.
It has the power pro box aswell, but noticed on previous install it drained the battery too quickly in 8 houres or longer and it would often drain it below the point that the car didn't activate the DLR's anymore when opening the car. Afaik the car does that once the battery gets lower then XX volt to save for nessecairy devices.
Anybody know a work around to prevent that?
I was thinking of installing a secondairy (small) 12volt battery in the car for the cam only, but not sure how to connect it so it charges of the main battery or alternator once that battery becomes too low.
*hope the A pillar removes easier then in the A4 B8 (cracked the windshield the first time i did the install :( ).

Check your manual for the homelink fuse.
