new RS7 Performance Wheel and passport 9500ci integrated pics

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Finally some pics of my first attempt at any mods!
    1. Installed the new RS7 performance wheel. I like the thicker feel, air leather sporty look, and the Audi Drive Select button on the wheel which allows me to toggle through drive select options using the button and the driver information display without having to go through the MMI. Very cool
    2. 9500CI passport Radar Detector and mid city engineering module allowing the display to be integrated into the instrument cluster. No physical screen. When there is an alert, the information replaced the "radio information" for about 3 seconds in the instrument cluster. Very integrated and sleek!

The Drive Select at steering wheel is very interesting. I was wondering if that feature can be enabled by coding alone. I can live with * button with the same function if it is possible.

the issue is that i dont think the pre-facelift models have the programming, i've seen people have issues trying to get the programming to work. some of the coding is automatically applied with the buttons themselves but to get it to display properly on the DIS is the issue on the pre-facelifts

If it can switch the mode without display on DIS I'm still okay with it but like you said, the pre-facelift model may not even have that ability to begin with. This is something I secretly am jealous of the M cars with basically 2 presets of our individual mode built to the steering wheel.

i posted up the coding in another thread for everyone( including Alex )

I dont believe it will work as the car automatically recognizes the buttons and reassigns everything automatically

I had my Drive Select button installed in my 2016 RS7 which I purchased thru Europrice.

There's no coding necessary for the DS button to function correctly...once you install the Drive Select button it should work. The DS button comes with necessary coding to make that function work. Therefore, if you don't have the DS button installed, you cannot vagcom code the "*" button to make it function as Drive Select..

Coding is necessary in order to display which mode of Drive Select you are currently on in the DIS.

With the help of Richib86 (in the other thread), I coded the car, but my DIS failed to display the Drive Select Mode even with the RS7 Performance Code that Richi gave me.

I also enlisted the help from Alex of Europrice and we came to the conclusion that for some reason, my instrument panel part number is different and is not accepting the code from the RS7 Performance to enable Drive Select in DIS.

I would be curious if others have issue with the coding to display DS in DIS or is my RS7 a black sheep.

I replaced only the right side (the side with DS Button).

I suggested to Alex, maybe I should also change the Left side (Since the buttons come in pairs when purchased)...but he said that the left side is a slave to the right side, and only the right side replacement is necessary.

since you've tried everything else, it couldnt hurt to test out, its strange that it works on one s7 and not another

Alex seems to think that its my instrument cluster panel that is the culprit, since the coding you provided is directed to the instrument panel, and mine doesn't accept the code...it spits out "Out of Range".

Yes...Alex thoughts it was strange also, because correct me if I'm wrong, but you have a A6 or S6, and it works on your car.

I pretty much gave up on the issue

The only two DS modes I switch between are Comfort and Individual...And I memorize to push 3 times each time to switch in between these 2 modes.

Although it would be nice to see DS mode in DIS

Sorry for delay guys. That is what the mid-city engineering module does. Not sure if I'm allowed to post links here so pm me and I can tell u more. Essentially it's a module that plugs directly into a port to allow this integration. Well worth $400 on top of the 9500 price imo :)
