"Supercharger" sound coming from turbo... Blown turbo?

    2 days ago I started hearing a
supercharger-ish like noise when I was under boost. My gauge still shows that I'm making the same 11psi at WOT but I feel like I've lost power and it doesn't really have much umph anymore.

I've read a lot about it and people say to look for holes in hoses but quite frankly I have no idea where to start.

Not sure if this matters but 5 days ago I put on a 3" turbo back exhaust with a test pipe.

If this is the so called dentist drill sound, then yes, your turbos on its way out,

Just went out for a drive. Boost gauge shows 9psi under WOT and sounds normal up until 3-4psi.

Would that have anything to do with the larger exhaust I just put on a few days before I started hearing this noise?

Not likely. If anything, the turbo would have an easier time spooling. At least it's giving you some warning and not just blowing half the CHRA down the exhaust along with most of your oil.

Would a Borg Warner ko3 from a 2000 A6 2.7t fit on my car? A guy near me is selling them for a decent price.

You can get a cheap K03 from CXRacing.com. Also try a junkyard, just check shaft play before pulling it.

Im noticing what sounds like turbo flutter in that video. You should not have that if you have a diverter valve. Turbo flutter is the compressed air forcing its way back through the turbo in order to vent after you've let off the throttle. You have a DV problem which is probably what led to your turbo taking a shit on you. Check you DV and the vacuum line that runs to under the manifold!!!

Still haven't decided on what turbo to get.. First I went from k04 build to just a stock k03 then back to k04 build and now I'm thinking about FrankenTurbo... I'm gonna need time to get some money together but how much time do you guys think my turbo has, given that video^, before it actually "blows up"?

What tune are you running? Stock is 8-9. Most tunes are 17-21. You may also have a large boost leak if you've only been seeing 11. I'm not able to watch the video so I can't comment there.

"Supercharger" sound coming from turbo... Blown turbo?

Eurodyne AEB Stage 1 tune, usually peaked at 13-14psi and would hold at 11psi until around 5k.

I emailed them to get the specific specs and they said it should peak at 14-17psi. I've never been above 14.

This seems like a great deal... Right?

Bigger injectors, FPR, a BW K04, and PC16 file for under $700?? I thought the k04s went for over $700 alone!
