Audi Connect SIM Card Not Recognized

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I performed a Factory Reset of the Telephone and Bluetooth System via MMI to resolve some bluetooth issue with my phone and now my Audi Connect SIM Card is not working.

Audi Connect keeps saying there's "no SIM card and to please insert SIM Card" and the MMI options for online data are all grayed out therefore, unable to change any options .

I tried reseting the MMI system and insert/reinsert the SIM card but unable to get it to work.

The Data Module is turned ON BTW so that's not the reason...I also tried to turn on/off the data module and that doesn't work either

I went online to myaudiconnect.com and it states my ATT subscription is active and I also called Audi Connect confirming an active subscription, they are sending another SIM card just in case.

Has anyone experience this problem?? The SIM card was working before the Factory Reset so I can't believe the SIM card suddenly malfunctions.

    Anyone has any suggestions??

I had a similar issue last year. You may have tried this but remove sim, reset mmi, put sim back in specifically in that order. In data connections setup, is you username and password blank? I just spent an hour on the phone with Audi for a related issue ! Not fun

Hi...I will follow the steps in the specific order you mentioned.

I can not even access the Data Connection Option/Setup area, because those options are grayed out and I cannot select them to gain access to change any Data Connection Options.

Did you ever got it to work?If yes...what was the solution.

I'm hoping its just a coincident that my SIM card is fried and replacing it will get the system to work. I hope its not the MMI System that malfunctioned and necessitate a visit to the dealership.

Boy, I was going to start a thread on exactly this subject, but happened in different conditions. Here's what happened. Just connected to Audi Connect today, and other than my PIN not working, WiFi started working, but immediately disconnected my telephone from Bluetooth (and no, not connected to a USB port, which you cannot do both on this car). Went to media source and my BT just said 'not available'. Then a stupid screen didn't go away saying I needed to connect my phone to MMI. So since BT wasn't working, I connected it to a USB port, and enabled WiFi. It worked, but still couldn't hear Spotify. So disconnected it from the USB port, disconnected WiFi on my phone, went to the telephone module and enabled BT 'music device' and it finally started streaming. Okay, cool, so shut off car and got out. When I came back, BT was on, so great news. But wait, there's no sound. WTF? Everything was fine, with the file streaming, etc, but NO SOUND. Tried the USB stick, and same thing: Song playing, with file running, but NO FREAKING SOUND. Switched to radio, and both sources (radio and XM) worked perfectly. Just no media. What? Okay, so time to shut off Audi Connect. Put WiFi in 'NEVER', but still didn't work. THen, the only other setting that made sense was 'DATA MODULE OFF', so I turned it off, and problem wasn't fixed. Okay, let's try again shutting off radio (by holdling power button for 2 sseconds), now with the car stopped. Turned it on again (ignition on only), and now media worked. Okay, good. Let's now try WiFi again. Then I found the screen OP mentioned. Can't even get to settings. I thought by turning data module OFF I permanently erased the info or something. But that doesn't make sense, and now I'm starting to think it's an issue with AudiConnect, no? Or is it a bug in the MMI??? Has anybody ever experienced not having sound in media only? That was bizarre. Have to travel on Sunday, and don't want to be without Spotify. I guess will call AudiConnect and see if they can reset the POS. I shouldn't have deleted anything by turning data module off, right?

Oh, and another annoyance: Another stupid blue screen started popping up like 10 times on a trip that if I was sure I wanted to turn data on, that could be charges, or something to that effect. Is there a way to turn that damn thing off??? Starting to think this stupid AudiConnect might be the source of all problems. My radio was working perfectly before, although I've only owned the car for a few days. Since I don't plan to renew this thing, I'm starting to think to leave that POS alone. Comments welcome. Thx.

Guess not many folks having this issue. I see no choice but to get a new SIM card. Salesman supposedly reset my account, but I have the same blue screen with 'no SIM card inserted' error, and not letting me do anything. At least the media options have sound now, so hope it was audi-connect related, and doesn't happen again. Leave for a long trip tomorrow, so will have to be without that stupid thing. Oh well. I wasn't going to renew it anyway. He he.

Its been awhile since I fixed this issue so I can't remember exactly what I did but...Yes...Somehow with me messing with the MMI settings, it turned off the SIM Recog Option in VCDS. The only way to turn it back on is go into module 5F using VCDS and look for the channel that turns on SIM Card, once you do that the MMI will recognize your SIM card inserted.

My dealer sent me a TSB to supposedly fix it (attached below), but guess he didn't understand we can't do squat with AudiConnect. But hope it's of use to others here, since it's affecting new cars, due to an addition I never saw listed (wonder where it is). At any rate, had to travel without internet (not a huge deal) these 2 days, but was a bit disappointed my speakers cut out again while the Spotify file was still running, although this time just turning the radio off and back on fixed it, fortunately. Guess the MMI software was corrupted somewhere. Was hoping never having to take my car to a dealer again, but we'll see how that works. He he. Not going to take it unless it keeps failing; it was only that time in about 10 hours of listening to music. This time didn't check if speakers worked with radio sources (XM, FM, etc), like last time, but I'd think so, making it a software/firmware issue, not a hardware one IMO. Bottom line is I told salesman to forget about this stupid crap, since I don't plan to renew it anyway. Good luck for those who want to keep using it. But my assumption this car was going to be bug-free were very short-lived. Oh well. Hope that's the only disappointment. We'll see.

EDIT: Couldn't find how to attach files here. Sorry folks. But it was about the new 'privacy' feature added in 2018. The TSB included how to turn the data module back on, but in my case, you can't access anything. If somebody wants that TSB in .pdf form, send me a PM.

Hi...do you still have the .pdf? How do I send you a private message to obtain? I’ve been having this same issue w my 2015 A3 since December and dealer seems to thinks it’s antennae...

Is this something my Audi dealer should know to do or would be able to?

Just been advised this fault can only be fixed by replacing the whole unit at £5000.

One day it recognized the Sim card and the next it did not.

Any help in point the dealer to sort this without huge expense would be appreciated.
