Hey guys, hate to bench race but would a stage 1 8V S3 be able to keep up with an 8spd auto stock 2016 Camaro SS?

16 Camaro SS is supposed to do 0-60 in 4 sec and 1/4 mile in 12.3 so I would imagine that it'll be close, unless you're in the rain lol

I believe the S3 would win. I know for a fact that Stage 1 E85 GIAC will...
The Camaro is heavier, but the biggest ? is the driver of each car.

From a roll, the camaro would probably walk away. From dig, it'll be close.

I agree. The top end of the V8 would be too much from a roll.

It'll be close up to around 60-70mph but I think even stage 1 the S3 will probably lose out on top end.

Stock SS traps 116mph so it should catching a stage 2 car on the big end. Make sure they can't drive and turn off the traction control....lol you'll have them out of the hole.

Weakness of the big power Camaros and Mustangs is ALWAYS ALWAYS traction. Reason why those noobs always want a roll race. All the weight up front will NO weight over the drive wheels. If they have an AUTO then they will do better from standstill, but if they have a stick then they are going to have a VERY hard time from the start. Those cars are fun to mess with.. just do a race from 0-100 MPH.... advantage is all you. You will even embarrass a GT500 to 100 MPH. Those cars don't move worth crap from a standstill unless they are professional driver working for Ford. Especially if the GT500 owner is the usual idiot rolling around with the stock 285 rear tires. Dyno queens... they never learn.

Unless you have a Stage 2 or 3.... don't roll race. The big TQ curve they have the advantage is all theirs.

Stage 1 93 or 91 tune? Makes a difference to a race that would be close anyway. Or just go stage 2, problem solved lol

From a dig it might be close depending on the driver of the Camaro and whether it's on the street or not. On a prepped drag strip he'll come around you easily even if you do get the jump out of the hole. From a roll you'll get worked.

I'd only put money on the S3 if it was a 1/8 mile run on the street.

I'd line my old GT500 up with any S3 on the street or track, dig or roll. Turbos and ET Streets helped out with traction a bit though.

You have to remember we have "quick cars" not "fast cars" ..
We are very quick from 0-100, the DSG transmission helps a ton. But once we go past 100mph, without a built engine and a bigger turbo, we suffocate.

Your best bet would be a 1st gear roll
After 100mph, it will get ugly.
