the car is only 5 years old!!

Is there any hope here? Is there a replacement for this other than buying a whole new door panel? Fixable? HALP!

Try a leather repair kit? I would look for the part on eBay (or a junkyard) before spending $254 for the ECS replacement part.

Seems insignificant enough to spend 250 for a new one. Look at some total A4s being parted out first or give it a shot with a repair kit. Other then that If it were me I would live with it.

For 260, you can probably get them all rewrapped with real lether instead

I have a similar issue. It's very unsightly, even with a dirty car!

I'm looking at DavidB8's excellent write-up on ambient door pocket lighting, but naturally he doesn't show how to remove the armrest piece from the door panel.

Does anyone have any pictures or a description of how the armrest is attached to the door panel?

I haven't done it, but I am pretty sure you have to remove the entire door panel to gain access to the screws or fasteners holding the arm rest on.

Correct. Mine is 9 years old, but doesn't look like those above. I only looked into this project, because I wanted to swap in the RS4 leather ones. There are leather covers on ebay now though.

Any shop that does automotive interior work will be able to repair that quite well, not sure how much they would charge you, but it is definitely repairable and will be invisible after the repair.

That’s interesting. I wonder how well they fit over the existing armrest...

Yeah? Do you have personal experience with that? I’d hate to put in 1/4 to 1/2 the cost by repairing them then being dissatisfied with the results and end up paying for replacements anyway...
