I am generally confused and cant get straight answers. Does anyone have any input as to whether an S6 swap is feasible without modification? I am looking to do track days and there's nothing like being able to brake hard and late! Thanks!
OR.....for anyone currently tracking the A6....would a set of track pads be sufficient to stop this beast? 356mm is not terrible sizewise, and with a set of dedicated track pads I think it may be OK, but I wouldn't mind some input from members who run the OEM rotors and upgraded pads. Personally I love the brake compounds made by a company called carbotech, simply amazing compounds! Going fast is fun, but being able to stop fast lap after lap puts a smile on my face all day!
As you can tell from my sig. I have upgraded both the front rear brakes on my A6. When I first started tracking the car I was completely stock and noticed after a few laps the brakes would start fading. At that time I figured I needed to go with an after market BBK, which I did. Looking back after extensive research I realize I may not have needed the BBK but instead I needed good track pads and a better brake fluid. That combo is probably sufficient for the stock power of the A6. Since I have the stage 2 tune I,m pretty happy having the Alcon BBK on the front and S6 rotor on the rear. Putting the S6 rotor on the rear maintains the factory brake balance, i.e. OEM was 14 in. front 13 in. rear now 15 in. front and 14 in. rear, all other factors being equal my front to rear brake torque should now be closer to OEM. Here is the link for the Alcon BBK
