Buying preowned 2013-2014 S6 questions

1) If i buy a car with say 35k on it still under factory warranty, can I add CPO coverage to it like you can with BMW through the dealer?

2) Does someone have a picture of LED vs HID lights side by side? Most I look at don't mention LED but they have a strip of horizontal LEDs running through the midsection of the housing.

3) How reliable? I'd like to APR flash the car and not sure how many TD1 problems this will cause?

4) any general advice? I'm coming out of a N54 335i DD and i'd rather not live that all over again ;)

5) are the option codes on a sticker somewhere I can cross reference with the order guide?

Why would you go through the trouble of CPOing the car and then tune it, thus voiding any warranty you just paid for?

You can't pay the Dealer to CPO the car if you buy it used from a non Audi dealer or private person. All they do when they CPO a car is add an extended warranty to the car. so all you will need to do is buy an extended warranty. When you buy a CPO car you are paying for that, about the same as the extended warranty, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how much you shop the warranty around and what kind of coverage you buy.

if you plan on getting the warranty I would talk to the Dealer about how mod friendly they are. The other thing I have seen happen is someone buys a used vehicle, already tuned and may or may not know it, but if the dealer finds out later after they have sold them the car or warranty they really can't turn down your claim since they added a warranty to a car that was already tuned.

I have flashed back to stock for all of my maintenance visits, also with no issues. I don't want to open that can of worms as it has been debated a lot already - but it has worked for me. Now, if something serious went wrong and they dug into things deeper, I'm sure there is risk - but that is pay to play...

Quick question regarding this. Any of your services that you did flash back to stock ECU did the dealer plug your car in for any reason?

I did have a TSB applied for harsh downshifts - but I am not sure if it is standard for them to plug in the car for normal 15k/25k/35k maintenance. I was told that it was, but, someone else on here would know better.

And you are a 2016 too huh? Thats great news as I have a 16 S7 and going with APR but heard even if you flash back to stock that they could potentially detect a tune on a 2016.

This is just my experience, my 16 S6 was tuned and it came back clean after I took the tune out.

Been watching CPO S6 on the market for a few months now, under 40k miles 46-48 I think is a good deal, obviously depending on options. See plenty asking 51-54, who knows what they actually end up going for but I think mid high 40's is where I would feel comfortable

And the whole tuned voidi g warranty, yes it could impact things if you have a drive train issue but hundreds of other parts still can go wrong and are covered with TD1 regardless

That's not how it works.

Curious how it does work then? Must be different for Audi. In my experience with BMW, you have the option of paying BMW to CPO your car and receiving the extended warranty. However, if you were to tune it or make other modifications and have to submit a claim under the CPO warranty, they wouldn't honor it if the modification were shown to have caused the problem.

2) Sorry, no. Get one with the LEDs if you can - they're worth searching for.

3) Mine's been rock-solid, and in a few years of monitoring various boards, it seems to be a reliable car.

AND: It's a great car - smokin' quick/fast, really comfortable, smooth and refined. If you want "raw", look elsewhere, or tune to your heart's content....

"raw" is probably off the table, I thoroughly enjoy my 335i when it works and it's the same performance as a stock S6 with the current modifications. I don't enjoy the loudness and civility drawbacks of my corvette and a C7 corvette while it has a better interior, i'm 6'3 and my gf is 6'2 we simply don't fit in the new ones very well.

What i'm trying to do is supercede stock corvette performance (118-120 traps) with a car I enjoy and can live with as much as my 335. The more I look at the 2016 s6's I like them much more, but the depreciation curve is too steep to buy a new one.

You'll have to tune the S6 to get that type of trap speed, but you seem to realize that already. I will say that even stock, with the AWD launch (not using L/C), there ain't much out there that can keep up in a stoplight drag...

Man.. lots of tire services lol.

Seems like this car was driven fairly hard. 2 brake jobs, wheel hubs, and shocks in 48K miles. At least this car won't have carbon build up ;) On a side note at least it seems that the main services were completed (DSG flush, Brake Fluid, Brakes, Tires, Sunroof lube, etc).

Got 43K on my '13 and its a lovely ride. Just watch out for the Estoril Blue... impossible to keep clean and it seems to swirl just by looking at it. LEDs are a must IMO (but I'm biased as I have them on mine).

i got a 2013 in Estoril earlier this week with 22k miles on it full CPO for 49k. LED, Innovation, cold weather. I also had them do a full paint correction at my detailer, full tints and new tires.
