    Hi guy's,

    Trying to see if anyone on here has purchased the HG Motorsports Ego-X exhaust?
    I know Emmanuele Designs has sold a few local in orange county and was hoping to meet up with one of the guys running it to hear it before purchasing it.

    So If anyone on here has one, could you post up your thoughts on the system and quality of it?

    If you go on YouTube you can find a lot of videos.....over on Vortex forums, I think someone with a mk7 R just had it installed and could not be more happier!

    Not sure if you're a part of OCVW, but we're having a meet up tonight at Crispy Cream in Mission Viejo off Cabot and La Paz. Joe's R is running the whole system and should be there tonight. Swing by.

    I used to do the OCVW until I got out of my GTI. Havn't done much with them in a while.

    It is quite raspy. I'm wondering if a resonator added would help tone that down.

    Yup, just had it done recently. Starts at 8pm. I usually get there a bit early since I'm up at 4am daily. Hope to see you there.

    It definitely has a raspy/aggressive sound if that's what you're looking for...cracks and pops on revs and deceleration...at the end of the day it's hard to make a 4-cylinder sound good. I was leaning towards Billy Boat originally, but got a smoking deal on the Neuspeed cat-back so I went that route and have been patiently awaiting their downpipe. Those two have the cleanest/deepest sound to my ears.

    We have pretty good variety in the SoCal S3 Facebook group, Neuspeed, Milltek, Bull-X, and some running Downpipes with stock exhausts.

    Off Topic: Am I the only one who watched the video and is curios how the S3 being dyno'ed is FWD and not AWD? Or am I just missing something.

    I've been happy with it so far...it's resonated, but no valves. It has a clean, deep sound down low but really opens up in the higher revs. There was a little drone initially around 80 MPH, which I blame on our short gearing, but it has mellowed out. Other than that, it's affordable and they're local here in SoCal.

    These are the only two clips I have at the moment...

    It has to do with the Haldex system being FWD biased, and can only transfer up to 50% of the power when it detects slippage. From what I understand, all Haldex systems are dyno'd in FWD by disabling Haldex via a pulled fuse.

    might be pulling the trigger on a non-res/catless EGO-X exhaust this week, really like the fact that it works through the OEM drive selects for the valvetronic. Is there anyother exhaust that controls the valves through the OEM system or do all the others utilize external controllers?

    Also going UM stage 2 ECU and stage 3 DSG next week..

    How it works on quiet driving with closed valves? Id like to know if its very loud when cruising in eco/comfort mode.

    AWE and Milltek both use the factory valve controllers. Actually, any aftermarket exhaust for the S3 uses the controllers, except I think Armytrix. AWE offers an external controller option to override OEM behavior (so they can be always open or always closed).

    I believe Bull-X is the only option which uses a non factory valve, but can still be controlled through the MMI.

    I thought the MMI only controlled the soundoktor, not the valves. I thought the valves opened at a certain rpm not matter what the setting is in the MMI for engine sounds.
