Adding coolant to allroad, have a few (rookie) questions!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'll get right to it seeing as im looking to get this done tonight.
(There is little coolant left in the tank)
    1. Do I need to mess around with the hoses at all if I'm just adding coolant?
    2. I saw a thread a while back stating it's not good to add straight coolant without the 50/50 mix (yes I have the right coolant in my possesion) how many of you guys actually just add straight coolant or 50/50? And what are your results with it?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you have any suggestions let me know please!

    (1) Don't have to mess with hoses, just top up to proper level in expansion tank with it cold.
(2)Mix according to directions on coolant jug with distilled water.
(3)Find coolant leak and fix, enjoy!

    Hope this helps.

make sure your using the correct coolant
    mixing coolants are bad
might not be a bad idea to do a system flush and fill it with g13

Just called the shop where I had work done on it over the winter, found out they use a universal coolant, definitely not g12.

*sigh* now I gotta flush the damn thing, little experience with that...

It is very difficult to flush the system without also removing the block drain screw. I also find it hard to drain from the lower rad hose without releasing the lock carrier.

Why not just keep going with the universal stuff? Do you have any cooling system issues?
