    Fluidamper revisited

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

Been 6+ months now since the B8 Fluidamper release. Just wanted to check if any more members here besides the few that have posted when I searched, have any updates or further reviews on their purchase. Was it worth it? Any complaints? All my readings point to mostly positive reviews in other platforms. From preventing engine damage due to high output chatters to smoother engine operation and dynoed increases in upper range torque and HP. Even proven dyno on a Ko4 GTI. And right now its priced pretty well on USP.

Anywho, may bite the bullet; im just looking for updated inputs regarding this upgrade.

PS: came from an EC Rotamass pulley that may have caused my front main seal to leak giving me a P2187 code for awhile until I went back to stock and changed the seal, from my readings the Fluidamper should NOT put the crank seal at risk.

Personally, I didn't want to fuck with something aftermarket that could cause such big catastrophic engine failure for a few horses

    Even on the fluidampr

    Smellie,

My name is Ivan and I work for Fluidampr. I am confused by your statement. Why do you suggest an aftermarket Fluidampr could cause such a big catastrophic engine failure?

Oops! idk why it cut off on "Even on the fluidampr"

I meant to say, even on the fluidampr i'd rather spend 400-450$ on something else for power, like a water/meth kit.

I was in that same boat, I had the EC Rotomass pulley and it killed my engine seal multiple times and gave me the evap code until i changed it out. I've been running it for about 8 months now and haven't had a code since. Unfortunately, I can't tell you about noticeable differences between the stock pulley and the FAMPR because a lot changed inbetween (k04, tunes, airbox, etc) but I can tell you that it is a very solid piece of material, is very similar in size to the oem part, runs much smoother than the ECRM pulley due to the harmonic balancing and hopefully, gives me a few more feet of torque at higher levels (maybe???).

Thanks Guys! Sounds like a solid product throughout many platforms since mid 00's from my google searches, especially in higher HP cars. For the price I read the smoothness alone seems adequate.

Personally i haven't had an issue with the EC rotomass pulley, I bought it on the first GB when released. That being said i'm still interesting in getting a Fluidampr one when i switch turbos.

If you want to change out your crank pulley / balancer, this is the one to go with without having to worry about potentially messing up the harmonics of the rotating assembly.

I just replied in a different thread about the Eurocode one; as an engine builder, the only way I would go with the Eurocode is if I rebalanced the whole rotating assembly 'with' that pulley. I don't care how long (miles or time) they tested that product on a few cars. All it takes is one engine's tolerance to be quite different (the tolerances for the engine have a range; each build will vary from engine to engine) with this pulley and you have a recipe for an issue. Those variances exist simple because of mass production and QA finish efforts. It's not like we're talking about a Bentley or Ferrari, hand built engine here .

Someone should totally get one and send a DIY install along with some feedback after driving around a bit.

i would trust a fluidamper better than any other
my supra has had one since day one started out with 800HP now up to 1200hp
supras do have a problem with the front seal as well but its the oil pressure that literally pushes the seal out
so what people started doing is pinning the seal so that it does not slide out

The Fluidampr definitely smoothed out my idle and engine pull on the highway. Feeling the engine working less when doing WOT especially on E85.
