AFS Ecodes for FL RS5

While shopping for your ecodes, make sure to inquire if they are oem or Valeo.
Yes, Valeo do make the oem headlights but they also retail them separately. The difference being that the oem ones have an oem part number and the oem rings logo on the label whereas the Valeo ones have no rings and use a separate Valeo specific part number.
Externally, one cannot see the difference but it may be a simple case where the Valeo ones have not passed Audi inspection/scrutiny/quality control.
Valeo headlights historically sell for about 40% to 50% cheaper when new then the oem ones.

I spent months searching online for my ecodes armed with the various oem part numbers I got from the A5OC forum. To my surprise I found a few interesting things.
1. Some people/vendors will try to sell (and/or falsely advertise) Valeo ecodes as oem ecodes at the comparable oem prices.
2. There's at least 4 oem part numbers for each left and right ecodes headlight for that specific type - IE: if it happened to be pre-facelift, bixenon with AFS1. Those oem part numbers can be decoded where it will identify whether it's AFS1 or non AFS, whether it's for LHD or RHD and also whether it's bixenon or halogen. I had to first determine the correct oem part numbers that applied to me - Pre-facelift / Bixenon / AFS1. I found I could use 4 different oem part numbers for each headlight - right and left. Some make the mistake of not researching far enough and end up getting perhaps 2 out of those 3 parameters correct but forgetting about the LHD/RHD aspect as ecodes were made for both drive-on-the-left and drive-on-the-right Audi's. And then there are others who think they can install non AFS1 ecodes into their AFS1 designed Audi and end up unable to use them. Conversely, there's others who think they can easily convert to AFS1 headlights from their non AFS1 designed Audi by using AFS1 ecodes alone which again is another false assumption.
Just a few aspects to consider.

This was very helpful! Thanks! I just purchased a set! Now I just have to figure out how to get these coded probably on my RS5 once they arrive. I keep reading here and there about the Carista app and the OBD II Wifi dongle.

Coded? Should be no coding required other then the fact the amber corner markers have to be coded off but that can be done well before that removal of your original headlights. I've had my original headlight amber markers coded off for some time.
