    Oil consumption problems

I currently have 36k on my 2015 A3 2.0T. I have adding a quart of oil to my car every 2000 miles since 30k. I went to the dealership and did an oil consumption test and found I was burning 0.5 quarts per 1000 miles. I was told this was within normal specs and Audi wouldn't cover the fix.

Has anybody else had the same problem with a 8V A3?

    I have a 2012 and a 2006 A3, the 12 uses about a quart every 2000 miles, told that's acceptable.
    I think it's total bullshit.
No different than the FSI cam follower, Audi says don't worry about it but extends the warranty to a point where the average owner will have gotten rid of the car.
Ride the dealer every time you bring it in for service.

    Total BS.

I'm pretty sure the average consumption rate accepted by most manufacturers is 1 quart per 1,000 miles. Some are even 1 per 600-800 miles.

At this point, I would just keep an eye on the oil level and top off as needed. It it goes beyond 1qt per 1,000 miles, take it to them and start a consumption test.

I have a 2015 S3 with 11k...so far I have little to no oil comsuption. Maybe a different oil could give you less oil consumption, no all engine oil is the formulated the same, try to find one with low noack % (evaporation loss).

Very impressed with the s3 almost no oil consumption... maybe about a third of quart every 5000 miles.

VAG standards are a quart every 1000 miles to be okay... personally I don't think its acceptable but you're within acceptable standards

If you're using 0-xx weight oil you're going to burn oil. I used to run 0-40w on my B5 S4 and I would burn through it like crazy, I would add some every month. Switched to 10-40w and burn much less.

Thanks for info. I think I will switch to 10w 30 and see what happens
