Most of you knew our Matte Daytona Grey RS7, aka “The Wheel Whore". In case you didn't, we'll give you a moment to get all caught up HERE.
All done? Good.
It is certainly bittersweet to announce that she is now our Ex-girlfriend, and that we have moved on to gre(yer)ener pastures, in more ways than one.
Enter our all new 2016 Nardo Grey RS7 Performance. This time around we went for the Performance package due to the 45 horsepower increase, the DRC Suspension, and those beautiful 420mm (16.5”) front and 370mm (14.6") Rear Carbon Ceramic Brakes. Right out of the gate in it’s true factory form the handling characteristics differ significantly from that of the OEM air suspension on the prior car. For more aggressive and spirited driving we truly feel that this is a worthwhile upgrade.
That said, stock is just not an option. We are TAG Motorsports after all. It just is not who we are. We realized that there were a lot of you who have seen a “done up” Nardo Grey car or two before, so how can we make this car be a little different than others? The answer was clear, literally haha. After the car was picked up from our friends at Hoehn Audi in Carlsbad, we had our friends at AutoArmour wrap the entire car in XPEL Stealth Clear Bra to give it that slightly different look. Then we dove right into modifying this car by teaming up with our great friends at HRE Performance wheels. While the ordering process for the new car was under way, HRE gave us some insight on the all new S200 line. Furthermore, they graciously gave us first dibs at the beautifully designed series. In our honest opinion, we nailed it.
We chose a set of 21x10.5 HRE S200 wheels with a satin black face, and gloss black lip for contrast. The result is astounding. Keeping the color scheme to a very simple palate made for a very aggressive look. We retained the factory 275/30/21 Pirelli PZero Tires as well!
This time around, as opposed to the H&R Lowering Module we typically used with the OEM Air equipped cars, we installed the KW Height Adjustable Spring set. This allowed us not only to get a perfect ride height and stance, but furthermore it allowed us to keep the DRC system intact. This ensures that all of our dampening adjustability is still available. We also added a set of SPC Front Upper Control Arms to keep the front camber in line with OEM Specification so we do not run into any unwanted tire-wear issues with our new Pirelli Tires.
The more subtle refining details are in the badging and the reflectors. We utilized our in-house OEM black out emblem set, as well as paint matched reflectors. The OEM reflector set is just such an eyesore, and these minor changes make a noticeable difference.
As usual, we liked our ABT Carbon Trunk Lip Spoiler so much that we added her to this one as well! It's such a subtle addition, but it really makes a difference visually!
To wrap up phase one on the new machine, we needed to add that timeless upgrade… MORE POWER. We installed the full titanium exhaust system by Akrapovic. With this system, the car lost a considerable amount of weight, added impeccable sound, and produced a bit more power. All of this, while taking the rear of the car to the next level with the Carbon Fiber outlets. This paired with the Carbon Fiber AWE intake and…. well, it is needless to say that this car is an absolute rocket-ship thus far, and it will only get more intense from here.
We have LOTS planned for her - from Performance, to Asthetics, and we will be updating you guys on it all! :)
