So i just purchased a 2016 s3 prestige Florett Silver. The only option i didn't get was the black optic. After the break in period, i wanted to tune the car. I was thinking of going through apr, but after reading some things i'm not sure. And as far as the DSG tune goes, is it needed. Won't be keeping the car for longer than 3 years. So far i love it and am counting down the time until the engine is broken in. Quite the upgrade from a 2010 accord 5 speed. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much.

I've had the UNI tune since January 2015, on my S3. It's perfect.
I've had APR and REVO on other cars. They are all pretty close.
For me, the fact that Uni is so smooth, and doesn't have ANY flaws, in combination with the fact that I can tune with my own cable = win.

it's nice being able to just turn off the tune before dealer visits.
and update the tune yourself, if there are updates.

    Good luck with her!

For Lowering if you have magnetic ride, Id go with the lowering springs from Emmanuele Design. You will find a thread regarding his springs. Id take those over the H&R springs. Tuning..there are so many options and yes Id get the DSG tune. Enjoy!!

I have H&R sports with mag ride and they are excellent. Perfect height and ride. Every mode is perfect now. Stock springs are crap. I also have APR stage 1 and wish I had Uni if that tell you anything. Welcome.

Would def check out UniConnect+ and flash Unitronic software. Did it to our GTI and S3 and love it. No need to go to a dealer anymore to flash

Our S3 videos will be rolling out in the coming months but if you want to check out how it works, you can see it done on our MK7 GTI which is also on the MQB platform

I have the APR Stage 1 ECU and DSG tune. It's smooth and the power increase was impressive. I am shocked how this car is with very little more than a tune. Changing the shift points with DSG tune helps a lot for D mode daily driving. It keeps the car in the powerband and throttle response is better. It also supposedly increase clamping pressure of the clutch packs for the high torque version of the tune.

With any of the tunes, is the dsg tune necessary. I essentially live in the city so not sure i'm going to swap out suspension parts. Can the dsg handle the tunes without it being upgraded?

I wouldn't say its "necessary" for stage 1.....but if you start other mods like DP and Intake, its always nice to have the DSG tune for faster, crisper shifting.

So the stock dsg can handle the upgraded 60-100 hp and torque?

Same here, although nudging the gas up to 93 with e85 seems like it's using more fuel.

Stage 1 is most likely fine, but Stage 2, I'd say a firm no.

Personally I think it's more about clamping force and shift points.

On GIAC Stage 2+, having the DSG tune to go with it cured the slipping. It was an uphill battle with GIAC, but in the end I'm happy with their product.

    +1
The DSG tune is a must imo.
