Reciprocating mass for crank balance & Int vs Ext Balance

As far as I can find, for our 2.7L engines, it's 50%. Can anyone confirm? My machine shop just called to verify. His equipment vendor said 44-46% but that appears to be for 2.8L. Just looking for confirmation. Also, as far as I know these engines are internally balance. Appreciate the feedback. TIA

I'm supposed to check in on my block today. I'll ask the shop if they have any info.

Thanks. I'm pretty certain that the engine is internally balanced, but would be good to hear it from someone else. The reciprocating mass question was not expected. I believe Hines Industries is a solid source of info, but no one else I've spoken with in the Audi world has any knowledge. I tried JHM and IE with no luck.

    It is definitely internally balanced.

Allan at BEP said it's 50%. Anything other than 50% is uncommon. I have no idea how much experience he has with Audis, but he said he has dealt with a few.

Great to hear he agrees. I know the guy I'm using is sound and has a ton of experience with domestics, but less so with imports - he's only doing the balance work on this engine. He was inclined to go with 50% but when he called the manufacturer of his balancer, they said 44-46%. I suspect they got confused with the 2.8L. Thanks again.
