hey all, my power steering fluid is kinda low and its pretty expensive near me (dealer sells it). some people i've talked to use mystik hydraulic jack oil, is that a big no-no?

P.S. You're probably like why don't you just buy the oem fluid, it's pretty expensive near me. Want to make sure thats the only thing i can use before I drop that much on power steering fluid.

Use the pentosin... But that's not going to fix a low fluid issue. Have to solve the leak issue first.

Well, when i first noticed it I had just finished my alternator and the day after I parked it inside my garage, the next morning there was a pretty big puddle of fluid. However, the puddle was not green. O'Rielly shows that the pentosin liquid is green if im not mistaken correct?( taken from this link http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...4184&ppt=C0031). I checked brake fluid and it was where it's supposed to be. I also checked power steering but it was a bit under the min. The fluid in the puddle was crystal clear, which made me think it was brake fluid, but the resiviour shows that it's fine. It barely leaks now.

Pentosin is green but did you check what color it is in the reservoir?

Crystal clear... Nothing should be clear coming from the Audi unless it's super fresh oil or fresh brake fluid. Sure it wasn't water?

The viscosity resembled oil, it didn't look like water, and it was inside the garage without rain, so I don't see how it would have water underneath the car. The puddle was about directly below the engine bay, closer to the front bumper.

My brother smelled burning of some kind, Which swayed me towards power steering fluid. Hopefully it's not the rack...

Sounds to me like you need to top up the power steering reservoir with pentosin (mineral based hydraulic fluid), check the valve cover gaskets for them leaking (most likely onto the exhaust which is common), and the crystal clear fluid is probably condensation from the a/c.
