Your part numbers from the megathread came in very helpful, thanks for putting all that info together. It's actually how I discovered the allroad headliner would fit my avant. Yes, please do share some of the posts! I was going to do a separate thread for the swap but got overwhelmed once I hit some road blocks. I've still got that extra set that I reconditioned available if you hear of anyone that's interested in swapping. Regarding the visors: I've actually seen two types. Some come with with clips and some come with straps. I have no idea if they were package or model specific. But if you dig around on German ebay you should be able to find something.

Your list was helpful. From what I've gathered from my research and the cyber shopping tour I did of Europe; I believe that all the interior headliner parts for the B8 Avant will fit the B8.5 Allroad. They are essentially interchangeable. I was lucky and found a complete avant pillar set with handles and mirrors from one seller, but I'm almost positive they could have also worked in the allroad and vice versa. My new headliner is actually from an Allroad. The biggest pain as you can see was the sunshade. I would recommend getting a second set of hands for the removal and installation.

My VW tech friend performed the tune using UniConnect. I've also heard good things about East Coast European in Greenland, NH for performance needs. I'm not sure what to do about the carbon cleaning yet....I've been chipping away at the fun mods first but I know this is something that should get done sooner or later.

I talked East Coast into getting a walnut machine for when we did the CC on mine.

Just dropped it off on Saturday to a friend of a friend who does paint and auto body. Hoping he can sand the pieces down and start over. The first paint job was really awful. Fingers crossed!

Inspection sticker was long overdue. Finally got that buttoned up today. My friend's slammed Passat Wagon on the lift.

Navigation got an overhaul last night and I've now got the interior of the car up to full B8.5/Facelift spec.

I swapped in a 3G plus MMI head unit and euro controller panel with all silver buttons. I still need to run the cable from the shark fin to the head unit to get access to 3G google maps (and get a SIM card) but component protection was disabled by the dealer yesterday and everything is in good working order.

I think my favorite parts about this swap are the refreshed user interface and the simplified controller keys. Oh yea, and streaming Bluetooth!

Yes you just need the matching control panel for push start. Mine has it.

Yup! Like Pierre said, you just need the corresponding control panel. Push button start is cool! Sometimes I wish mine had it, i imagine it's an expensive and PITA retrofit though.

I ordered mine on eBay from lkq and it was part # 8T0 919 611 C WFX but only the buttons around the mmi knob are chrome. Here he went with an Rs5 all chrome unit.

Ending the week on a high note. Last night I swapped out the rear bumper on my avant for a used facelift S-line bumper with black diffuser. Sourcing this thing was tough! But it's a relatively easy swap. I had to replace the brackets with updated parts. A few crappy iPhone pics from the garage below. Hope to get some decent shots when I get a chance. I'm really pleased with the results.
