Thumbs down Brake caliper sliders seized

Hey guys my rear brakes completely locked up about a week ago. Figured the caliper piston was just locked out or it was something to do with my E brake. Ordered pads and rotors cuz they were due and id assess the damage. Turns out the brake caliper sliders are locked out and will not budge. One spins with a wrench but will not push in but the other will not spin or push in. Am I missing something here? Is there a way special way i need to push them back in? or do I need new rear caliper brackets? Thanks for the help in advance.

Rears call for a special tool. The piston needs to be spun/twisted to retract back in. You can rent said tool from most local autopart stores or I believe Harbor freight sells a kit for a reasonable $40.00.

    Brake caliper sliders seized

Is the op talking about the piston or the sliders?

My sliders were seized also. Easiest way to try and remove them is to use a threaded rod and screw it into the bolt hole. then use a socket large enough to go over the slider and rest against the caliper. Finally with a large washer and a nut on the other end you can pull it out.

Used a friends torch. Did the job. Then cleaned the sliders extremely well and loaded them up with grease like new. But thats a really good idea Sparkstack I will def have to try that if it ever happens again.

I had the problems of pins drying out and sticking multiple times. I decided to buy new slide pins from autozone for 8$ each pair. I am hopeful
