Strange whining bearing noise

I stored my 08 V6 TT for the winter, and now when driving above 35 MPH I hear a whining noise, like a small bearing gone bad. The noise does not get louder or faster between 35 MPH and 75 MPH. It does not change with engine speed. It does not change with car speed. It does not change when I apply the brakes. It does not change when I alter the climate control fan speed, or turn the climate control off completely. Any thoughts?

Wheel bearing or cv axle?

It does not change in any way (speed or loudness) as the car speed changes, so I doubt a wheel bearing or a CV axle.

Put a hose to the pulleys up front. I had the bearing on my a/c compressor go out around 110k and had it replaced at an a/c shop. Not too expensive, but still. Requires dismantling and what not requiring professional tools.

I can try what you suggest, but I cannot see why the A/C bearings would only make noise above 40 MPH.
