S-Tronic won't shift whilst accelerating manual mode?

I have an AR 2.0TFSI with S-Tronic (7-Speed), bought in Germany. Whenever I put the ADS to dynamic and put the transmission to manual mode - whilst accelerating fast (Pedal all the way down), it will not shift when I use the paddles while accelerating and hitting somewhere between 4.5-5.5k rpm. It does nothing when pushing the + paddle. It seems I need to wait till it hits very close to 6k RPM. Any idea´s or is this a normal behavior for the S-tronic?
Generally the shift are not instant, probably close to .5 - 1 second delay. I assume this is normal.
I have read something here under B8 S4 forum about a software update, but not sure if this update will work on non S B8.

just a guess: are you pushing the accelerator pedal down past the "kickdown notch'? (not sure the official name) I believe on my car, in manual mode, if the pedal is pushed to the floor, the car will always hold (or downshift to) the lowest gear possible up to redline. I would need to press the accelerator up to the first point of resistance, which I believe will command 100% throttle but not the downshift. Then the car will allow an early shift.

I have an American bought '09, 6-speed auto, with no paddles. don't know if there would be any difference.

I tested this quickly today. Pedal in kickdown won't let me upshift until I get very close to redline.
Also, which you explained, if I am in MT mode at 3-4 gear, pushing the pedal to kickdown will downshift to a gear close to redline.
Pedal before kickdown, I could shift whenever RPM I want. Again, tested this when driving from the store back to my place. Will test this again when driving on highway.
