Quickly read your other post regarding the cam, yeah as Charles Waite mentioned, you'll have to check the cam follower very often. Those that just left the existing cam where the follower was completely worn through to the HPFP, the new cam follower will wear out really really quick. Not sure what oil is available that can help reduce the wear unless you want to find something that has ZDDP but then that ends up killing your catalytic converter.

Keep your oil topped up, and be vigilant with it too. Our pumps sit high in the bay, letting your oil level constantly get low is a no bueno

At anyrate, jhmotorsports.com has great deals on cam followers.

I haven't even had the car long enough to know if I have the massive oil consumption issue that plagues these cars .. an oil consumption issue with a high mounted oil pump kinda feels like a self fulfilling prophecy to me .. lets see how long this motor lasts.. Car was only 3G and I may dump it if I don't get it where I need to this first round .. don't feel like doing rings and such.

thanks for the tip , that was a pretty good site , I will keep it in my favorites, I went OE for the fuel pump as that site looked like it was aftermarket.

GermanOEM can get any OEM part....even 'dealer only' stuff. They also only carry high quality after market parts that would be of equal quality to the OEM part.

Email them any parts that you want that aren't on the website yet, and they can get you a price quote.

Thanks for the tip . I wish I had seen it a bit earlier .. oh well

I picked up a hitachi OE fuel pump brand new for 238 US . which comes to about 300 Canadian. I had it shipped to my place in Niagara falls and am going down that way today anyway , so thought I will pick it up. Looks like I need a cam too so I will keep them in mind for that.

You seem quite knowledgeable about their operation ,are you affiliate some how ? I think its always fair to ask.

Just an update to keep anyone interested in the loop, I have a thread going on the A4B7 forum , but I did manage to get a HPFP and yes it was a genuine OE Hitachi .. landed with taxes was 325 Canadian. ( They wanted 330 Candian plus taxes was the best price i found for a non hitachi one.
I got a lot of metric orings and fasteners at Spaeneur which is great as it is right in Kitchener and has a walk up counter with no minimum order which is nice.

    http://www.spaenaur.com/catalog/

The only thing i am waiting on is an oring to repair my vacuum pump . 56mm by 2.5 mm. It is an unusual size ( i tried others but no go ) . I know it is unusual as Audi wanted 43.00 plus tax for it . I ordered it on the internet and hopefully it will be here soon.

hopefully after that i can drive it for a bit but i have a feeling more fun is in store.

It's a fair question, and yes I am affiliated with them.....It's my husband's company.

We have both been in the scene for a very long time, and he is well connected and always tries his best to beat all of his competitors prices. New parts are added to the website everyday, but there are thousands more to be added. If you email him then he can get you anything that isn't listed on the site yet.

Plus, if you are out at any of the shows this summer, come by an chat. We are vendor/sponsors at Spring Fling, Eurokracy, and Vagkraft. We are also title sponsor for Berlin Klassik.
