    Over the past few days my exhaust note has changed, no cel, no power losses and no moon rocks shootin out or anything. I plan on logging this weekend..

    Few weeks ago I had koni struts installed, I'm wondering if maybe during the install the exhaust knocked lose or something but I doubt it.

    I know this is a fairly common issue, but i just wanted to gauge how many of you have had similar symptoms before total failure.

    I'm giac stage 2, running 94 oct, cts intake and borla cat.

    love the window roll up at the end lol. But yea note has changed. I seriously doubt that the suspension install has anything to do with the noise. There's always a chance but highly unlikely. If the CAT brick has come loose and starting to rattle you should be able to check it by hitting the cat with a rubber mallet and see if it bounces or makes any other noise than a hollow noise. You can always unbolt your down pipes and look up in there if you can't get to the cats to bang on them. Also I would check the resonators in your system. You could of also dislodged whatever they have in there as well. Same thing just tap on the resonators.

    I would guess so. I had the same issue. Exhaust note changed, and I got bad misfires. Car became un-drivable. This happened all at once for me.

    Shit, were you stock at the time? Did you replace with cats or use test pipes? I'm learning towards test pipes because of the cost and likelihood of cat failure again..

    I was stock at the time. Cats are warrantied for 80K.

    My car is getting test pipes installed right now for this issue. Bad cat on bank 1. Misfiring all 3 cylinders above 4000 RPM at WOT.

    How'd the test pipes work out for yah?

    I scanned over the weekend with no codes, didn't get a chance to log.

    Had it on a lift today and took a quick vid, center res doesn't sound hollow like the mufflers, idk if this is the norm or not..

    It's back into the shop tomrw and I'm getting the entire system ripped apart and inspected.

    They just finished today and I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet. They did tell that it was the bank 1 cat that was the problem. The cat material fell out in pieces during removal.

    Picked up the car. No more misfires. I have no mid resonator and no mufflers. Without the cats the car is now beyond obnoxiously loud! Time to find some mufflers and/or resonators.

    Mine is the same way, lost the low end rumble and is more raspy. I'm also getting misfires and going into limp, stock tune, exhaust and intake.

    My exact issue, first thing I notices was exhaust note change. It was a bad CAT on the side of the misfire. The clogg causes back pressure and misfire.

    All I could really get was a cold start. It's really just way too loud to rev anywhere.

    This is straight pipes for the most part. No cats, no mufflers no mid resonator. It only had the two small resonators after where the cats were.

    Today we installed a magnaflow mid resonator and two magnaflow mufflers. It's really a great sound and not too loud. You'd never know it was catless now by the sound. Much better.

    Haha wow that's loud, but good to hear it's better with the MagnaFlow.

    I dropped my car off at the shop today, it's been a week since the change, still no codes or misfires, but the sound is definitely getting worse

    Well I think I have another bad cat. Exhaust note change, misfires, black/grey smoke out of the exhaust. I'm under 80k miles but now my car is modified so I don't know if they will do anything about it.

    Audi willowgrove is replacing my bad cat for free. I'm stopping by AWE on the way and having them flash it back to stock. They said they didn't car about the exhaust

    Good to know the flash to return to stock does the trick at the dealer. Strange that you blew another cat..

    my shop told me it's not my cats thankfully, but it's the center resonator of my exhaust. Borla is sending me a whole new system to replace. Amazing customer service with them

    All the exhaust manufacturers offer similar service. Milltek replaced my center resonator. I've heard others getting theirs replaced by AWE, etc.
