Always wanted to get an Audi and A7 fits what I need. I'm thinking of getting a second hand one and I'm curious how do they hold up long term? Anything I should bewared of?

    Thank you for your input.

As long as you keep up with the maintenance, should be okay. The C7 platform is generally well built.

Bought mine with 25,000 miles. I am at 55,000 now. Thermostat stuck closed at 26,000 miles, wasn't the best experience with a new to me car (on our first roadtrip). Once that was fixed the car has been rock solid and I dont regret it at all.

If you buy a used one get a cpo, warranty lasts forever and they take care of whatever you need. The thermostats will go out on these cars in the earlier models, but it's a bug they later figured out when the cars started to hit 25k miles. I just took my car in for an oil change at 39k, (I haven't been to the dealer since last may) told them to check a vibration at idle I thought might be a bad motor mount, there was 1 seat recall, back up cam went bad and some other nonsense... my car was completely finished in 1 day oil change, seat recall fixed, new back up cam, new motor mounts... I got a nice loaner, they covered all problems under audi car, oh and flushed my brake fluid for free! These are the bests cars to own / drive and their service depart is alway awesome! I also have a Mercedes, love the car but I despise the service department!! they are alway trying to milk me for money and they never go out of their way for anything! I just bought a new battery from Mercedes-Benz road side ass. back in December, the piece of shit died on me and it under warranty for 18 months, then they refused to cover it lol. I'll be trading this benz in for another audi shortly.

Holy...This car sounds problematic... Never had this much issues with my previous C300 C63 or 535i M combined... I'm getting audi care on this car for sure.

TrueDelta is a good reference site relative to vehicle reliability and is based on repair data submitted by enrolled vehicle owners. TrueDelta solicits this information (including mileage and also if no problems were encountered) from enrolled owners quarterly.

Can you tell me when the c6 platform ended and the c7 began? Any major differences between them? Thanks, Chris

C6 models first arrived in 2004 as a MY2005, and ended in 2011 (with an exterior facelift for MY2009). The C7 began as a MY2012. The C6 models are quite dated now and the C7 is far better in every way.

Did it turn out to be the motor mount causing the vibration? I'm having that in my 101K miles A7 and since it seems to be idling fine, I'm wondering if the motor mounts might need to be replaced. What's the best way to determine, other than replacing them? :)

I believe the A7s have active motor mounts as the S6s. I had a motor mount issue as well and if it goes bad it will throw a soft code. You can check this using a vcds cable.

I have checked an no codes, so I suppose it's not that. Thanks

It's not an A7 but I have a 2012 A6 3.0T with 123K miles on the ticker. It's been solid without any maintenance other than routine oil changes, brake pads and an AC compressor change.

My 2013 A6 has been relatively bulletproof with just over 50K miles on the clock. The only "real" service issue I had was a small electronics module on the driver side of the car....would intermittently make the window and sunroof stop working normally. Was fixed under warranty.

Overall I'm not seeing many problems whatsoever across multiple audi forums.
