    Oil consumption (Pissed)

Okay so my moms A5 has been burning about a qt every 1500 miles since we got at at 15k miles and now it's at 55k (just got the 55k service $500 to change the oil and the cabin filter what a fucking joke) and we started part 1 of the oil test again (my mom drives from NH to CT on a regular basis so it is not practical to bring the car to the dealer every time it needs a qt of oil). It is obvious that the piston rings are shit and its unbelievable that they will not fix it so I want to take a turkey baster to the oil cap and take out a qt and throw a few drops of oil in the exhaust pipe so I can bring it back to Audi and say it is smoking under acceleration and has burned a qt in 300 miles so they start round 2 of the oil consumption test and if they don't fix it I plan on doing this continuously until they do. Is this a good solution to this issue because it really is insane that these cars burn this much oil and how much it is to get the vehicle serviced at the dealer.

    That stinks.

I have 73k on my 2010 "4.2" S5 and i HARDLY have to add any oil between my 5000 mile oil changes. I am probably certain the v8 S5/RS5 would use more oil over a A5 "KNOCK ON WOOD"

I am coming up on my 5k oil change in 500 miles and i only had to add like a quarter of a quart 3 weeks ago or so. Not sure if that was my error of coming a bit short last oil change. For the record i check on my MMI AND i have the dipstick.

Why not call AOA and be polite.
You can also try a different dealer.
I have been to 4 different dealers and the experience can vary greatly.

Your mom can trade A5 and get a Corolla i heard those oil intervals are like 8k miles. and very reliable/ end thread.

Maybe it just needs a pcv valve replaced, when my oil started to disappear slowly it was just the pcv (oil separator) under recall btw

Sorry, this is fraudulent behavior. Call Audi, but don't resort to fraud.

Your mom bought an entry level luxury car and you're complaining about having to pay to play. If $500 for the service is is too much for you, maybe try to do it yourself. Otherwise, trade it in for a a Honda or a Toyota.

I've seen some people have issues with oil consumption with their 5's, but my RS has been pretty rock solid. I haven't had to add any oil in the 9.5k miles I've driven it since new. How come you're only now trying to get it fixed at 55k miles when you've been having said issue since 15k miles? Like others have said, either bring it in to another Audi dealership or hit up AoA and see what they think.

Do you think it's the same turkey baster that OP was conceived with?

So if it really is burning that much oil (spec is .3Qts a thousand miles) why not bring it back for the second part of the test? You're well within the 80k piston and ring warranty limit?

The service is not the issue. They can easily afford it and usually don't keep cars past 30k miles. My mom really likes the car and was planning on keeping it. I wanted to eventually buy it as a daily from her if I build my n54 335I because it really is a clean car and I love driving it. I am just disappointed in the Audi response in handling the well known issues with the 2.0t TSFI engine. It really is tough to convince them to continue to be loyal Audi owners (Dad has a newer 3.0T A6) with service like this. The turkey baster thing was irrational and I was a little bit upset last night but I will continue to post on what happens with this issue and how our local dealer resolves it after part 2 of the consumption test.

Its only certain years and shortblocks, usually 09-11 MY 2.0T FSI with the piston and rings problem...

Mine is doing well at 90k miles, when i did have an oil consumption problem (PCV), i discovered it was collecting in the charge pipe between the map sensor and intercooler.
