Question What is your preferred spark plug?

So, I know it is usually the manufacturer preferred spark plug that most people use, but some people also use aftermarket plugs,

What type do you use and why?

Bosch or NGK is fine. I run Bosch tri-electrode plugs but my car is supercharged so I need a different plug.

So i looked those up and they say they are not compatible with my application, did you have to do anything special to have them work? or was my web search just being stupid? how would those fair on a unmodified S4 also?

I'm using these Denso. Had them in there 4 years, seem to be just fine. Price is right, too:

Currently I have these in my car http://www.ebay.com/itm/NGK-LASER-PL...tRM6~h&vxp=mtr

not sure if they need to be changed, but checked, but i get an occasional tremble in my engine, kind of like a misfire at times. very very random though.

I get the exact same thing in mine and I replaced all plugs and coils with the Bosch shown above and updated coils a little less than 2 years ago. Ran fine until recently and then I started noticing the slight what I call a stumble. Also random but seems to occur more when I am in drive and sitting with my foot on the brake (i.e a fast food drive thru line). It has not thrown any codes but it does make your heart skip a bit given the timing concerns of these engines.

Exactly the same thing I am talking about. Glad it is just not me then.. I am going to get my timing chain replaced soon though. not sure if the previous owner did that or not. is there a way to check via Audi? or do we just have to go on luck and faith?

I am not sure unless the repair was done at an Audi dealer, if it has been done and by Audi they may have record of it by vin# in the system? If not I don't think there is anyway to know for sure without service records of it being performed. I have not really had any timing issue to date (fingers crossed as my car may realize I just stated that) and I am at 69K.

I just recently got NGK's. Never had any issues with them on any of my past cars. Also $40 for 8, you can't beat that.

you should just need to get a step hotter plug then what i have, i'll have to look up the part number but i'm pretty sure it was whatever they said for a B5 S4 stock.
