    S4 sport diff swap?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
purely a hypothetical here, but is there any reason why the S4 sport diff won't work on the SQ?

do the S4/SQ5 use the same non-sport diff? is there going to be a mechanical issue with the ZF or is the big hurdle the coding?

how broke will I go chasing this dragon?

    thanks everyone,

As I understand it, the sport diff will be an option on the next SQ model.
That being said, anything's possible, but it will cost.
Even if the axles are the same length, the suspension, shock, and sway-bar mounts may need to be moved.

The actual differential can be had for cheap on eBay. Wiring would be the tough part, assuming it fits. You'd need to get the appropriate information from the ECU and wheel sensors to the differential. I can't imagine it's pre-wired on the Q5...

You weren't kidding. Diff and control module are only like $600. I might just pick them up and see what I find for wiring/vagcom. I am betting some significant coding will need to be done to get it to work.

Hrm does the euro sq have the same suspension (with different springs)? If its available on the euro, then i'd think the hardware should be ok staying in the same spot.

Can anyone see what the part number for the sport diff on the euro SQ?

The funny part is, when I got this car I told myself "keep it mostly stock. don't tune it. don't go crazy"

    Is there a modaholics anonymous?

The reason for my comment about the S4 rear-end is because the sway-bars are different lengths. That would mean that there are differences between it and the Q/SQ. Now, it may be that you could use the S4 sway-bar with it, but the geometry is a little more involved than that.

I also just realized another critical variable that I didn't think about before... The final drive has to be the same when swapping a rear diff out.

edit: Now I'm confused though as I thought the S4/S5/RS5 all have the same part number. Let me look.
