2013 Q5 3.0 issues and getting close to the warranty ending - Final Audi Service

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My 2013 Q5 3.0 is getting closer to the end of its warranty <6 months and I need to bring it in soon to address a few current issues. While the car is being looked at for this service, do you know of any other typical problematic things that can go wrong with this engine or chassis? I like doing this before a car goes out of warranty because some problematic things are a ticking time bomb and with my luck will fail right after the warranty runs out.

    Current Issues:
    1. The AC stopped working last week
    2. Sunroof squeak and rattle when driving
    3. Steering wheel squeak and low power steering pressure at low speeds, intermittent issue.
    4. Brakes Squeak intermittently

    Thank you!

there was a tsb on the brake squeaking issue. i think i got my pads replaced under warranty as a result of that.

other issues i've had with the car include the center console cover not staying up after being lifted - it wanted to fall/slam back down. i also had some fueling issue earlier on - not sure if it was a pressure sensor somewhere, or what...would need to look at my records. other than that, the car has been in good shape.

Thanks for the help, I looked up the brake TSB 2027636/1. Do you get your Q5 serviced in SF? It looks like you're running around with a siamese twin of my Q5 in the city.

on the recommendation of vroomvroom, i've been getting my Q5 serviced at burlingame/rector (despite living in the city). roger gray has been my service advisor since i moved to SF 2 years ago, and he has been fantastic!

where in the city are you? i live in potrero hill and work over at 1 embarcadero. there's a dude with a sweet rs7 just a block or two away from me.

The Burlingame Audi isn't too far from the city and if they offer a loaner car, I'll bring my Q5 to Roger also. I'd like to bring my car in and have all the problematic things looked over during this visit and hopefully they don't give me a hard time when I show up with a huge list :) I live in Soma at The Beacon, which is across the street from AT&T field. It seems like the Q5 is one of the most common cars in this town. I'm looking to get my wheels powder coated satin black but haven't found a shop that can take the car and do it. If not, I'll wait til this fall and have it done in SoCal since I know of a few shops.

I currently have 29,500 miles. My girlfriend drives it 25 miles Mon/Fri and on the weekends we often take it to Napa/Tahoe, I figure I'll probably put on 12k miles a year.

I swear 90% of white Q5's are driven in SF. ;) Obviously I endorse Roger @ Burlingame/Rector. He's the perfect front-end guy, and I've never had an issue with their technical work. Good luck with everything.

FWIW, I work at Pier 1, although my German spends the work day in the garage @ Colma BART.

yup, burlingame does give you a loaner - just make sure you request one when you schedule your appt. they also recently finished up construction there on the 101 off ramp, so getting in and out of that place won't be a nightmare like it used to be. and roger has been great!

i know exactly where the beacon is. we take the dog out for walks a few times a week and usually end up out by the ballpark. that part of soma can be a lot of fun, but it also can get crazy crowded/congested in a hurry! i'm not a giants fan, but i do love that stadium tho.

we moved up here from socal a couple years ago - seems like shops for cars are a dime a dozen down there! since moving to the bay area, i've used giannini’s auto body to install my rsq5 grill and they did a really good job, some random shop on bryant to get a window replaced (joys of living in SF!), and burlingame/rector for service. if 034 puts out a tune for the Q5, i'll prob take a serious look into that. speaking of which, how do you like the giac stg 1+?

The GIAC Stage 1 tune + intake was unbelievable. Honestly I thought I the shop did an engine swap, previously there was a lack of torque when getting on the freeway and now its a freight train. I'd highly recommend getting your car tuned, you're going to regret you didn't do it sooner. Hopefully Roger doesn't sweat it too much about my ECU tune.

That signature looks awfully familiar GIAC really wokeup the car. Next week I'll find out what all the stage 2 hype is about. cant wait!

back on topic- are you looking for an extended warranty? I'm in the same boat. Warranty is up in 4k miles or december

yeah, coming from a 3.0T, i'm guessing the difference would be much more dramatic than going from an SQ5. i had considered giac when i was still living in socal. now i'm gonna play the sit and wait game to see what 034 comes out with, hopefully in the near future. i would love to have a shop that's somewhat local.

btw, sent you a PM too.

Here is the list that I'm brining to the dealer this week, lets hope they address all the issues.

    1. The AC stopped working even though no warning lights are on
    2. Sunroof squeak and rattle when driving (Mostly right side). TSB for replacing the frame on both sides.
    3. Steering wheel squeak and low power steering pressure at low speeds, intermittent issue.
    4. Brakes Squeak intermittently, there is a TSB 2027636/1 to replace the pads at all four corners under warranty.
    5. Gasoline smell from under the hood when the car was left parked for a few days
    6. Start/Stop button is peeling; this is a defect in the OEM part
    7. Check oil consumption, I had the car on a slight hill and it reported low oil. Check the Water Pump and Thermostat for leaks as I thought I saw some weeping when inspected.

I'm bringing my Audi back in for its final warranty work/maintenance at 31k miles.

If there are any other common issues that I should have Audi look into, please let me know.

Issues for the dealer to address:
    1. Steering wheel squeak and low power steering pressure at low speeds, intermittent issue
    2. Brakes Squeak intermittently, there is a TSB 2027636/1 to replace the pads at all four corners again...
    3. Gasoline smell from under the hood when the car was left parked for a few days - This wasn't addressed in the last service, dealer said no gasoline smell was noticed
    4. Check oil consumption
    5. Carbon Buildup Extended Warranty - Does my motor have the extended warranty for this issue?
