    Bluetooth audio?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello guys. My audi A5 is a 2013 facelift model. It has bluetooth but only for making and receiving calls. I do not have the AMI where i can connect my ipod or iphone to the car. I only have the aux input and audi symphony.

I am wondering, since i have the bluetooth already, am i able to do something to be able to connect my phone to the bluetooth and play music and have my music information on the screen? I know the new audi a5 has the bluetooth music option right?

Are you sure that you have BT configured correctly on your phone? With BT you can set which audio features you want accessible. On my Android, for instance, I can go to Settings>Bluetooth>Paired Bluetooth Device> and from here I have selections for the types of information I want available. Phone Audio, Media Audio, Contact Sharing are all options that can be checked.

Yea. I check everything. On my audi media didplay it doesnt give bluetooth as a source. Only CD or aux. Or the radio tab.

You probably need to use one of those Tune2Air things.

Any other way apart from buying all those? Maybe a software update for my car system?

I can't speak to any other options or even the details on Tune2Air. I don't have a need for that stuff since I have the MMI+ 3G system. I mentioned Tune2Air since I've seen plenty of other threads about it being necessary when people don't have the streaming option. I'll bow out since I don't really have any detailed useful info on the topic.

Sounds like you don't have the MMI with navigation. I'm not a 100% but I don't think you can get bluetooth audio streaming with just a system update. Before I bought my car I seem to recall this being one of the reasons I had to go with nav

are you saying we can update our software to receive Bluetooth MUSIC capability?

I just purchased '14 S5 without NAV, but only with AMI (just like my previous A4).

I'm interested in this as well. Something without much hassle would be nice...

    edit:

looked into Tune2Air... will most likely purchase this one and test it out.. Anyone else have this BT adapter?

No I'm saying I DON'T think it is something that can easily be done with just a software update.

For Tune2Air, you need the AMI interface and for built-in Bluetooth Audio you need the full MMI. Since you have neither of them, I don't think there is any other way than connecting your device to the Aux port in order to play Music over the car's speakers.

Does the Tune2Air work with non apple products to stream media over Bluetooth?

Product page on amazon only talks about connecting with iPhone/ipod but I have neither.

I do have MMI 3G and the AMI in the glovebox, so not worried about being able to connect it, just whether it will work on my phone or not. (Windows 10)

The FAQ has this to say, so it probably works with Windows 10 as well. The Bluetooth Audi Profiles are standardized, but looks like they have extended support for iOS devices.

I use Android phone, can it work with tune2air?
Tune2air can work with iPhone and most Android phones. But unlike iPhone, when working with Android phones, there will be no playlist displayed.

^ Thanks for the response. I ended up looking it up on their website shortly afterwards and found this:

"The Bluetooth enabled Tune2Air is not only compatible with Apple devices, but also any brand of Android or Windows mobile phone. You will be able to stream music wirelessly to the iPod system in your car which was originally only designed for Apple products. Controls such as volume and skip track will also be retained on the original car buttons, so you can use the original head unit or steering wheel controls to skip tracks where compatible. As the Tune2Air is used with original in-car iPod kits, it is not possible to stream playlist or album art info from non-Apple phones, but you can still enjoy the same high quality audio from your Android/Windows phone through your original iPod system."

So it does work with all phones basically, but wont display any album info unless its an iPhone.

You can google "AMI Aux cable" to find it all over the place. Here's an ebay link to an AMI Aux cable though: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2217188...&ul_noapp=true

The lack of bluetooth audio is one of the most annoying things about my car. Pretty sure they have come standard in Kia's for years yet my luxury Audi couldn't figure it out. I bought the tune2air which is decent, but skips a lot unless I turn off the phone bluetooth when using it.

Maybe each country has different options? My 2013 has bluetooth capabilities for calling, listening to music, and using apps like Waze.

Only the B8.5 has built-in Bluetooth Audio and only if you have the full MMI (Technology Package in the USA).

    to follow up..

I just got my tune2air. Great product, works great with my Galaxy S7. Had some issues connecting with my old iPhone 6 though (was trying to record a video, but it wasn't pairing/requesting a pin that wasn't even created)...

That could be due to my S7 being connected first (wasn't at pairing time)...

Although I don't think so.. My friend came around when I was installing it and we tried it on his iPhone first and no luck..

Overall, great product. No complaints..... yet.
