    Bentley GT3-R Turbochargers

    Not sure what happened to the thread I was reading about on this last night but it's gone now. Thought if I registered I could see it but anyway will these bigger turbos bolt up to our cars? I'd rather get these than RS7 turbos assuming the cost is the same. Any info?

    From the article what makes you believe they are any bigger or better?

    "Instead, it’s a massaged Continental GT V-8 S that has been horse-whipped to 572 horsepower and 516 lb-ft, increases of 51 and 14. That’s a lot of sauce out of 244 cubic inches. Actually, there’s an overboost function that makes possible 592 horses and 553 lb-ft for 15 seconds, "

    "We’d guess that it also doesn’t lend itself as easily or as cheaply to a power bump as the Audi-developed V-8, which has already been taken to 560 hp in the RS7. "

    And the RS7 performance is 605 hp 517 lb-ft (overboost to 553 lb-ft) on the standard RS7 hardware.

    Doesn't this suggest different turbos?

    "New pistons, turbos, and engine calibrations give the throttle an urgency it lacks in the Continental S, which, granted, is deliberately a little squishy."

    That could be the difference between S turbos or RS turbos. I think gk1 makes a valid point though...if the RS engine has been tuned to 605hp and up to 553lb/ft, why would you want the Bentley turbos that apparently can only get up to 592/553?

    Could be...all it implies is they are different than the Continental S... they might also be incorrect... who's to say the Bentley hardware is any bigger/better if for all those changes they eek out no more power than the RS7 performance.
    I'm sure someone with access will chime in with the part numbers. (Although i don't know if they are the same on all VAG products.)

    But if the Conti GT V-8 S makes 521 HP wouldn't it already be using RS7 turbos? If the article's accurate about the GT3-R turbos being different than the GT V-8 S perhaps they're an upgrade to the RS7 turbos.

    What do you guys think of the upgraded 3.50 gears?

    could be a tuned up version of the s6/7 engine and turbos. thats pretty similar to a stage 1 tuned s6/7 hp wise

    Meh...they could easily make 521 HP on S-model turbos with software changes...and the Bentley has the dual intake like the S8.

    It looks like Continental GT V8 S is 079145704Q from the only picture I could find online which appears to be the same as the S8...which makes sense since it is rated for 520HP.

    The rs7 has the largest wheel you can fit in the housing, Bently uses the same housing so it is no bigger

    Then how does TTE install larger compressor wheels in the same housing for their TTE800 upgrade? Wouldn't they just machine the housings same way the factory does it for S6/8/RS/Bentley turbos?

    Look up all the tte c7 and you will see no one running better times and only 45/50whp gains.

    They just machine and put a different type of wheel. It is like a Franken turbo of old days not worth the ridiculous price they ask for.

    I'm confused, I thought I read that the "Total Race" Russian RS7 went 10.1@139 with the TTE800 turbos before upgrading to bigger turbos. Are you implying that stock turbo RS7s run that fast with the OEM turbos?

    Total race did not use tte turbos to my knowledge I could be wrong but when I spoke to Ivan he went a different route with it.

    I mean if you want to spend 7k euro to redo your turbos go ahead it just has not produced the results from what a lot of people say in europe

    What's the 7k euros for? I thought it was only 2949 Euro minus another 19% for VAT.

    When I priced them out for the s6 it was 7k shipped and you had to send yours over it was more if you wanted another set of turbos maybe the prices have come down but that is still a lot of money and the fact remains the same we need a solution with a bigger housing.

    OK well the current price is only around 2600 Euros with sending your turbos in plus 80 euros for shipping. Here's the video of the car that trapped 138-139 with these turbos. Seems like a pretty good deal to me?

    I had the local bentley dealer parts guy do some tinkering on their internal computer and he said the turbos are different than all Audi models but doesn't know what the change is. He said it could be something like different lines or intake ports and not necessarily larger turbos.

    AFAIK Total Race went straight to custom GT28 turbos on that RS7. They have since gone bigger - that's the same RS7 with the turbo "horns" and no hood.

    Interesting:

    Ditching the front transaxle on the Continental GT3 provided the opportunity to push the longitudinally mounted engine farther back against the firewall. This in turn allowed the adoption of a front-steer system. But the weight centralization effort also meant the turbos would butt up against structural bracing as-is, a no-no. Therefore, the factory V-8 may nest the turbos in the vee, but the dry-sump GT3 V-8 flips the cylinder heads and puts the turbos outside.
