are there any coilovers that adjust height with the whole shock body?

a lot of coilover setups are now available but I have not seen any that adjust the height with the whole body. what I have seen are ones that have the collar adjustments only.

What would be the advantage here? I have had coilovers on a few vehicles before and never saw ones that adjust with the shock body.

there are two adjustments for the coilovers.

the two adjustments are preload and height adjustments.
but the ones I have seen available for the audi s3 only have one:

the PRELOAD adjustments. (watch the video for visual explanations)

its wrong and it shouldn't be used for height adjustment.
one of the problems you will encounter will be ride bounciness if you use it as a way to lower your car.

the first video is preload adjustment and how it should be used, the second videao is height adjustment.

I've never owned any coilovers that had separate adjustment for ride height. Even my high-end TTX Ohlins for my RS4 didn't have this. I ran the car at the ride height recommended by Ohlins.

Typically the manufacturer gives a range of ride heights that they recommend, and a properly adjustable damper can accommodate changes in pre-load (and therefore height). Yes, if you want to slam the car or lift it way up like a truck, you will be operating outside optimal ranges, especially for spring rates intended to run inside the desired range. A good damper still shouldn't be bouncy if you run the car too low, but it definitely won't be optimal.

What are you trying to achieve?

I saw some BC's for MKVII GTI. Maybe they have some for AWD MQB as well?
