First of all, after 4 tries i finally found perfect tyre setup for 21x10,5 ET27
If you're planning to throw some 21x10,5 on your A7, i bet you'll want some aggressive offset, and according to the fact, if you want stanced look and planning to ride something lower than stock height, than i can suppose ET27 is a max, otherwise you'll face alot of issues with rubbing. So i'm writing down some facts, that can be very useful
1. Don't go more then ET27 if you're lowered
2. Most of 285-30-21 will RUB, if your offset is <30 but it depends on manufacturer, so read p.4
3. Forget about Runflat tyres in 275 and 285 sizes, in case of runflat technology it have insanely fat sidewalls, so overall even 275-30 tyre is wider that 285-30 non-runflat
4. Check out exact wideness of tyre because it's very different with every manufacturer. For example, on my practice 285-30-21 P-Zero is 9-10mm wider than 285-30-21 PSS.
5. Check out how tyre sits on the wheel, it must be stretched, if it's sitting straight, even with ET30 it will rub hard.
6. If you're not quite sure about exact setup go with less agressive offset, for example ET32-35, you always can use spacers (personally i don't like it, but it's just me)
My final setup is 21x10,5 ET27 with 275-30-21 Continental SportContact 5P, , no rubbing issues even on -30mm drop and fully loaded car. I must admit that Conti is less wide than PSS in same size.
About pics. May'be cause my age doesn't meet requirements of "facebook generation" i'm not taking photo of everything so i don't have pics for every setup saved and don't expect super quality pics ) Most of 'em are made with old iphone in bad light conditions. And pics of final setup will come ASAP, i'll ask some pro photographer to make it =)
285-30 PSS on 21x10,5 ET27 with 30mm lowering. Rubbing hard, but good for photo )
Admit that 285 PSS is a little bit stretched on 10,5J. Here is how rubbing looks )
Driveable height with PSS 285-30 Stock dynamic -5mm front, -10mm rear, still some rubbing on a hard cornering
Difference between 275-30 PSS Runflat (left) and 285-30 PSS non runflat (right). Even unmounted tyre is wider
Again, pics of the final setup coming soon, i've finished that quest just yesterday and i didn't even have a minute at daytime to take a photo, 'cause i don't want to impress you with pics in style "black man stealing coal at night" I'll update post later.
