    But this does not seem right as google part search under that number gets me a ECU of some sort...



    what about 8E0 131 089 ?

    Is the 8DO 178 BE an OEM part for the B6 A4?

    Both of those pictures came from the same catalytic converter that I removed from my car last year.

    Both of the part numbers that I listed were on the same OEM catalytic converter that I replaced with a 034 HFC last year.

    Stamped above the Audi rings was 8D0 131 702 HP.

    Stamped below the Audi rings was 8D0 178 BE.

    So I assume they are both valid Audi OEM part numbers.

    I am going to pick up a OEM Cat I found for a good price.

    The add says "brand new", however under further questions I am now told that it was installed for a E test and removed right after and a test pipe put on... less than 50K (KM) on it.

    How do I visually inspect a CAT to determine if it is in fact close to new??

    Look at the combs inside... if they are deteriorated or missing then its bad. I have a mint cat with less than 30,XXX miles on it. 60 Bucks shipped.

    If the 1.8T has a metal support cat like the 3.0, you probably won't be able to tell how used it is. If it is ceramic, it would be easier to tell. Still no way to really determine if it's good or bad without installing it though.
