Question B8 A4 Rear Seats Won't Fold Down

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
No latches, pull cords, anything.. Assuming since it's a premium model they don't fold down.

Behind the seats is there a metal firewall? If so, can I just use a saw and cut it out..

Not being able to fit skis, 2x4's, etc in the car is a bit ridiculous...

You're correct that 2010+ B8 Premium cars did not have folding seats. You may be able to retrofit a Prem+ rear seat into yours... @lambda13 was going to look into it (he has a Prem+ seat to sell) but I'm not sure how far he got. I would second the roof rack comment above, though, unless you're looking to move things like wheels which have to be in the car.

I think @smellie would be a better person to talk to on it. if you look from the trunk is there a metal frame or is it the seat?

such a ridiculous cost saving measure on a car of this price range. I understand its not an A8 but come on every damn car has fold down seats standard. I've got fold down on mine and trunk is great compared to gf's old 9th gen civic with ridiculously small metal frame limiting space after folding down.

You could source a set of seats that fold down and swap them in, I'd assume. When you look in the trunk, you just see the seat back, they just don't fold down on cars without it.

My issue is you just don't think of it when you're thinking of "Options" for your car. It's not like Navi. You just assume it's standard. You shouldn't have to think about asking for folding seats. Really pisses me off everytime I think about it.

BMW also has this option... it seems to be a popular thing amongst the German brands.

Both of my wife's previous subarus don't have rear folding seats just a small panel in the center that opens up to the trunk. Seems a little rediculous to not have it for AWD cars

My 2012 A4 Premium has the rear split folding. There's a guy locally selling a full black premium interior for $100.. If you're interested pay the shipping and I'll grab the rears and send it over. I want the front passenger which he agreed to part the set.

Yeah. Same said by the car salesman at the VW dealership who located a used Premium + for me. Couple of latches and hinges must be $100.
