    B7 Special Edition, Good Deal??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Had a B6 last year, got an 07 Acura TL which I love but the Audi body style has just always been so sexy and always catches my eye. So with that being said curious as to what all you Audiziners think of this A4??

    http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?sourc eContext=forSaleTab_false_0&newSearchFromOverviewP age=true&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=c747 4&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity2=c8369&zip= 84041&distance=50&modelChanged=false&filtersModifi ed=true&sortType=undefined&sortDirection=undefined #listing=139293323

I saw it in person and it looked nice from outside. A few things I noticed was it had Niche wheels and it looks to be on either lowering springs or coilovers. It is not an automatic but a 6 speed manual, what makes the special edition so special?? Any specific problems with the late B7's?? Some specifics to look for When I go test drive it?? Any inputs and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In 2007 Audi introduced a version of the B7 named the 'Special Edition', which built on the S-Line specification and also included the black optics pack, the RS4 style 8J X 18 '7-arm double spoke' design alloy wheels, Two-tone Graphite/Black Volterra leather, 3-spoke sports leather/Alcantara multi-function steering wheel with gear knob and hand brake handle in Alcantara with silver stitching, ventilated cross-drilled front disc-brakes, black tailpipes and black roof rails (avant model only). It also had a power increase of 20PS, giving an output of 220PS on the 2.0T model.

Seems a tad high (to me, in my area), but in the right ballpark. Overall it looks pretty clean. The manual is a plus (the tiptronic has torque converter issues). The 2.0T has its problem spots, but at this point, they're known quantities. That one is likely due for a timing belt/water pump service (not just mileage, but age as well) so if they can't show records of that, I would plan to do that immediately. While you're doing that, check/change the cam follower on the HPFP. You don't want that to fail (Audi claims they'd fixed it by 2008, but lots of evidence around to the contrary). I really like my 2.0T and it's been pretty solid for me.

Looks like a good car--especially if you can get them to come off the price $1000 or so. Hard to tell from the dark pictures, but it could be lowered or it could be the S-line suspension.

ETA: Holy crap that's a lot of air fresheners! Does it stink like cigarette smoke or something?

Thanks for the insight, yes I know all to well about that timing belt and water pump. That was the first thing I did when I bought my 03 A4, manx over mods all day!!

I think it looks damn good. The price is a tad high but you can negotiate the price with the dealer. I'd say go for it and see if you pay full price if they'll have the necessary services done to it like the T-belt and waterpump etc. done.

Price is high. It looks like it has halogens and the basic package. I would look into a better deal with the options you want. Looks like a clean car, but you can do better on the options and price.

Not available in the States, OP is from the states. Also, the car in the photos matches none of that description aside from the S-line bumper. You'd figure it would have Xenons at the very least for a "special edition"

If it is a "Special Edition", whoever owned it last swapped out the s-ling front bumper for the standard bumper and then put on some unpainted knockoff "Votex" front chin splitters.

    [edit]
Nvm... they mashed the splitters onto the s-line bumper. I'd check for damage because those were not made to fit an s-line bumper and didn't even fit right on a standard bumper.
    No longer my "DTM" S4

I just went to look at it and things I noticed, springs underneath were yellow (couldn't tell if they were on coils but my gut says no) the front grille is missing the chrome lining, the front bumper lip looks out of place IMO, it is 6 speed manual 👍, I talked to the sales rep and he said they took out the aftermarket headlights because they didn't fit right, also said they replaced the muffler because it was mangled. My thoughts on this Audi is some younger kid had it modded it realized the Manx was too rich for his blood and traded it in. Those things make me Leary, and I'll pass on the deal. The pros of the car was the interior was really really well kept, paint was in good condition, 6 speed, Niche 18" wheels....thanks for all the feedback very much appreciated kind sirs!!

Agreed 110%!! The splitter looked goofy and just out of place. Felt like the S-Line badge was bought off eBay and slapped on the front bumper
