Question Purchased a C6 A6!Did i make the right choice or am I in for a world of trouble??

So I recently purchased a 2010 c6 a6with 88k miles for $4500.I was told the vehicle in question needs and engine. When I asked why.I was told it overheats after 15 minutes of running.Sure enough it does.So long story short I did check the cylinders and there is coolant in some of the cylinders. So I am hoping maybe just head gaskets??Worst case scenario cylinder heads will need to be decked.Car is pretty clean has some options.Really my question is give that the car hasnt been to a dealer since 42k miles.Would it be safe to change the transmission fluid??As far as i could tell thing shifts without issues. But I think on these cars audi mandates to change it every 35k??Just wondering from personal experiences if its something I should do at this point or not??Also given the point that the engine has been overheated.I would assume it would be a good idea to do so.

Judging by you signature line, you either work on Audi's or manage/own a shop that does. If you got a clean A6 for $4500 that needs motor work, I think you are still going to come out ahead. Even if you were to have to do a compete rebuild or even put a crate motor into it, you will have less into it than what they are selling for.
As for the trans, Audi actually states the trans is "maintanence free" and does not call for fluid changes in the service schedule. I don't think you will do any harm by changing it.

At 88k miles you're at the perfect place for a tranny filter and fluid change. ZF actually recommends it around 65k iirc.

I'll be doing mine next weekend and I'm nearing 100k mark.

Just to clarify, the whole "lifetime" moniker that all German Auto mfgs. use really means 100k, and anything after is ymmv. I have a buddy of mine who is from Germany and says that Germans don't keep their cars past 100k which is where the whole "lifetime" thing came from. Here in the US, we keep our cars way past that.

Did you do the exact same procedure as him and was 12 L of the stuff sufficient for flush and fill? I have a full case at home, but I don't want to run out of the stuff on my fill. About how much goes in?

I'm not being snide but that Mustang only has 225 HP - extremely weak and slow motor! Did you do anything to it?

Yes your right I work at a shop that deals mostly with German cars.Mostly audi,vw,bow,Porsche not too much Mercedes.Ive had a few audi's recently sold my b5 s4. Kinda busy at work but will post some updates.Fingers crossed that it's noth No serious but I bought it knowing I might need a motor so we'll see.

Issue being 3.0Tfsi motor are all alloy heads and block so far I haven't had time to do much diag on the car.Next order of business is doing a compression check. This will tell me if the heads need to come off or not.My friend who works for Audi told me that the supercharger coolers leak if the engine is overheated and that the pic breather also melts a seal which could cause coolant to enter the charger as well.I am hoping I don't have to pull the heads but fearing the worst.Ill post some updates along the way.I have a busy work week this week but will try to keep you guys updated.

The car isn't even fixed yet and I'm already looking at a stage II flash and a smaller sc pulley, wheels, exhaust, and suspension as well as gauge faces for cluster.

So far I know that the car is over heating has coolant leaking into cylinders and burning coolant and some oil.So far a compression test has told me very little.Compression is around 110-170ish on all cylinders.Which to me sounds decent but not perfect.

I am hoping that the coolers inside supercharger are leaking into the intake or possibly the pic breather is leaking coolant into the supercharger.I should have the charger off some time next week.Ill keep you guys posted.
