    10mm spacer require bolts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I'm running 18x8 RS4 wheels ET35. Looking to get them right flush.

Is a 10mm all around too much or just right? Also are bolts required?

    Thanks!

i think 10mm would be fine for the front, maybe even just 5mm for the front depending if you're lowered because you don't want to rub when turning.

and 15mm on the rear will be better and more flush.

and yes you will need extended bolts, only for 5mm you can get away with the stock ones as it has to be within 2-3mm or so, but anything over 5 you def need longer bolts.

10mm is good on the front but I wouldn't go larger than 10mm in the rear, otherwise you might poke.

Liquid is correct. You'll need longer bolts for anything over 5mm.

So it's safe to say 10mm all around. I'll order these up today then.

Rule of thumb when it comes to proper bolt size is you need to get minimum of 6 threads in the hub. Anything less could be considered unsafe.

i have ECS 10-15 and the rear isnt as flush, looks good, but not flush. i think you can easily get away 17 or 20mm for the rears. 10mm up front is perfect.

nope trust me 10mm will be underwhelming in the rear. they will definitely not poke, not until you get closer to 20mm. above 10mm in the front and yes it may poke, but definitely not in the rear, not with 8" wheels.

FYI i have 19x8.5 S4 wheels, et 43, with 255/35 tires, and i have 15mm spacers in the rear (so makes it et28).
my rear is pretty flush with the tire sidewall, i think i can maybe go to like 17mm before i rub. and i am lowered as well, no rubbing over bumps. but i feel like i'm just a few mm away from rubbing the 255 tire sidewall over bumps. i had 225/40 tires on the rears before and with those i feel i can get to 20mm without issues, but i chose to keep the thicker sidewall for better practical driving and comfort, not too worried about being exactly flush, but 15mm looks good enough.

Ahhh maybe I'll just wait till I lower the car over the weekend.. I had to cancel my appointment last weekend due to me forgetting to my wheel lock at my buddy's shop.

I need to source PROPER bolts. I was at a BMW season opener Sunday gone, and some kids wheel fell off. Every single bolt snapped. It was kinda funny, but I don't wish that to happen to me. :)

ECS has bolts and make sure you order the right type (e.g conical vs ball seat)

yea you'll most likely need the ball seat for oem wheels, conical is usually on most aftermarkets.
