I just picked up my Deep Sea Blue Pearl S5 today from getting professionally detailed & mid level paint corrected. While the paint was already in pretty good shape. I wanted to take it to the next level and i simply just didn't have the time at the moment or the high speed wheel. But it LOOKS amazing now, paint is like glass and the pearl in the blue shines like never before. The people i took it to use Adams polish, which was a big reason for me going with them.

I am making a check list on what i should order tonight to keep the car looking as great as i can until next winter. I already know that i am grabbing some of the Adams exterior shampoo. But what do you guys recommend as a hand wax or glaze to apply every few weeks? To keep everything tight and keep the deep gloss. I know a lot of guys on here use Adams especially with darker colors.

I found this kit which has the shampoo, the wheel cleaner, the detail spray as well as the H20 guard gloss for $45. Any of you guys here use the H20 guard gloss on darker colors?

    http://adamspolishes.com/adam-s-16oz-best-sellers.html

Besides the listed above, as well as i am grabbing a bottle of the VRT tire shine. Do you guys use anything else for "upkeep". What is going to be the major difference between the detail spray, and the H20 guard gloss? The guy did mention i can use the detail spray as a "wax as you dry" if i desired type deal.

Also I really enjoy the scent of the Adams interior leather cleaner/conditioner. I'm really sold on Adams polish. Only thing I'm using for now on.

I'm sure Mops will chime in eventually, and others as well, but h2o g&g is a must. I'd grab some towels as well. Towels for the g&g and towels for drying after a wash. I do mist mine with detail spray as I dry it. It helps a ton with keeping water spots down. VRT is great for tires, highly recommend it.

Pretty sure the g&g is going to do what you're wanting every few weeks from a wax.

Other things- Glass cleaner and the towels that go with that. Rinse less wash. Water it down and make it a waterless wash. There's directions on it on how to do it. Great for those times you just need to clean it up quick. Also the towels for the waterless wash. Makes things much easier.

Best piece of advice I can give-watch the videos. They help tremendously. Seems pretty simple with most of them, but the videos will help get the most out of everything.

Thanks, that is exactly what i am doing now. Didn't realize Adams has a full lineup of Youtube video's, very helpful ones as well. I JUST watched the guard & gloss one, they used it on a CTS V & seemed like a must order.

You use both the detail spray and the G&G after each wash? I use a large waffle towel to dry mine at the moment.

Also what are you guys using to preserve any plastic trim like the black plastic rain cowl under the wipers. Or anything plastic, so it won't fade and provide it with UV protection. Does the VRT work well on plastic as well on our cars?

in&out is best thing i found by far. No mess, it's great for nooks and cranies around fog lights and also trim around windows.

Thanks i will pick that up as well.

Anyone here roll the dice and clean their engine bay, INCLUDING the hose on a light stream? I am not fond of the idea, and i declined for the guy to do it. Not sure if he understood how to properly cover the ignition coils so i just wanted to play it safe.

A while back i did my B5 S4 but there is a gamble of course especially with the coils & making sure they are protected good. I may just wipe it down with some all purpose cleaner and be safe, and dress it with some IN & OUT.

I've cleaned my engine bay a few times and have no issues. Sprayed a light mist of water....then hit it with some All purpose cleaner.....and agitated with one of my soft brushes...sprayed off.

Let it dry...come back at the end of the detail and finish the parts with VRT and in & out spray!

I love the Adams line up and have been using it exclusively on my S5. Deep wheel cleaner is great as well if you still have stock brakes as they kick up a ton of dust!

FYI...They have a 15% off sale going on right now so it's a good time to stock up.

Just curious if anyone has tried the wash wedge yet. Was thinking about giving it a try.

I do, not always the same day. Depends on my schedule. Vegas, with the sun/heat I have problems with water drying on the car. Detail Spray really helps with that. And what does dry, DS removes the water spots. If I feel like it, I will G&G right after. If not, I clean the car up the next day and do it then. Really depends how much time/what the weather is like. To me, I can tell a difference in how black the car looks after G&G. And yes, In and Out spray for the things that were mentioned. It's great. Super easy to use and just wipe off the excess.

Well that "picking up a few Adams's products" got out of hand quickly.

I picked up what i think is plenty to get me started. Watched a ton of their videos just a bit ago on their products.

    -Adams car shampoo
    -Total Interior Detailer
    -Adams Glass Cleaner
    -Wheel Cleaner
    -All purpose
    -Detail Spray
    -H20 G&G
    -VRT
    -In & Out

Plus some towels wash mitt yada, yada yada. Hopefully its here by Friday in time for my weekly ritual wash every Saturday if weather permits. Car should still be fairly clean still, although pollen is on the loose here.

Alright that makes sense. I am currently in a condo complex so no water. I go to the self wash & pay for their water essentially, bring my own buckets and don't use their brush obviously. Cost me $4.00, First two bucks to rinse the body & power wash off the wheels, next two bucks to wash the soap off the car.

So i usually have the luxury of drying the car in the shade under being its covered, unless its super crowded. I won't be a dick and hold people up i will pull out.

Hippe when you say you G&G RIGHT after, is that while its still wet with the detail spray on it? Or do you go over the car with the g&g in the method he showed with the damp towel in the video in the 2nd part after the car has been dried? Just curious. I notice they use a two towel method for the G&G to prevent smearing etc.

I've tried just going straight to g&g as I'm drying. It doesn't really work well in that method. I'll dry the car completely. Let it sit a bit and then come back to it after it's all dry and do it how they show in the video. Two towel method.

my brilliant black is PICKY - currently on Menzerna power lock+ seal (2 months old), adams detail spray, and C.A.R. topper for a final shine when I wash. I don't see any need to try anythign else it comes out so good and easy.

What's C.A.R topper? I'm going to dry it with spraying the detail spray on it method with a waffle towel. Previously used a wax as you dry from Meguair's which added some lust between washes.

Now going to try the H20 G&G with the damp towel method after I washed and dried with the detail spray. The minor correction did wonders for my deep sea blue Pearl.

Love Adams leather cleaner and conditioner fresh smell as well, I'm slipping all over my seats now they are so smooth and soft & not shiny.

got it in the last mystery box offered by detailers domain. goes on easily and supposedly another protective layer. I like the zero streaking. even the adams detail spray as a drying agent will leave slight residue.

Interesting, I'll have to grab a bottle. Have you tried H20 Gloss & Guard ever? Curious how the topper compares to the gloss & guard. Both seem similar in what they do.

nope - just switched from zymol to adams and the only reason I have another product like the topper is because it came in the mystery box. but its good - like the others I'm sure, but I'll be buying more when this runs out.

I find the wet apply method for G&G to be the easiest and best! Especially if I have some sealant on there...the water beads soooooo well it makes spraying/spreading the G&G super simple!

Vanimal, you should check out the adam's forums. Tons of great information on them....super helpful people as well!

I plan on it, i just realized they have a whole forum. Do you also combine the detail spray AND the G&G when you dry? That is the only thing i need to research. I mean i bought both, im not a fan of using detail spray dry ever really. The whole gloss enhancer as you dry i love though especially when i am properly sealed like i am now.

Check out the r/autodetailing subreddit, they are really helpful, have a wiki page with how-to's, reviews, and recommended products. Adams is all good stuff, make sure you've got all the right towels for each purpose (drying, wax removal, glass, interior etc.) and use two buckets with a grit guard for washes even though you have to use the car wash to do it, it'll help. I got my towels and wish mitts from the rag company; they are fantastic. Optimum No Rinse would be a big help since it's kept outside and you don't have access to water. You could fill up your bucket in the condo and use an ounce of ONR per two gallons, a wash mitt and towels to do a panel at a time in the parking lot without the need for a hose. You just wipe down a panel with the mitt then dry. That would take care of a lot of the basic just being outside/driving dirt/grime week to week then when you've got more time or it's dirtier than normal you can do a full two bucket wash at the car wash with all your nice Adams stuff.

If you are going to G&G then you would not dry with detail spray. As soon as you are done washing the vehicle...while its still wet....spray the G&G directly on the panel you want to start with...maybe a 3-4 full pulls of the trigger. Use one double soft towel to spread/rub it in on the panel. Use a second double soft to "buff" the panel and knock down the residue. Repeat that process till complete!! Its good to use on windows as well if you want. Best done in complete shade as well!

Thanks guys, i will check out the forums you guys recommended. Hopefully my big Adams haul is hear before i wash the car Saturday. He did mention the Optimum no rinse when i was there, i will check that out too. Although if weather permits i wash and vacuum it every Sat. The self wash is just up the street. Plus washing it weekly makes the job that much easier when i go to wash it.

Just be careful. It's a sickness once you know how to properly maintain your car's paint, and is a deep rabbit hole. Your car will almost always look amazing but people will think you're a little nuts about it. Definitely worth it.
