Talking Ecs ra4 stage 1 with ecs lwfw

Just installed the new clutch today and thought maybe someone thinking about buying this kit would like some insight on it... Anyway... Install was not to to bad took 4.5 hours or just shy of that start to finish. I have only put about 30 miles on it since install this am but I can report a few things at this point so far... First it has a much stiffer but still Oem like feel to it, but still much stiffer. This could be partly do to my smoked stocker but it was an immediate thing I noticed... Another thing I noticed was the chatter from the single mass. It is most def louder than the dual mass from the factory, although I did know this going into it as I will say ecs tuning has been very upfront about this in forums. More vibrations transfer to the cab when lugging in 5th gear at 40 mph for example. It just makes me stay in 4th gear more often. Also maybe a little faster to rev but I haven't hammered it at all but seems to climb a little quicker.. I will be going for another 20-30 mile ride tonight so I will keep this post updated as to feel of the clutch during break in... Mods include Apr stage 1, ecs snub mount, ecs boost gauge, intake, test pipe, 3" resonated down pipe into split. 2.5" into magna flow magnapacks... Sure I'm forgetting something.

Another thing, ecs tuning has been good to me as far as service, questions etc. for example they messed up my order and forgot to put a part in the box. My car was stripped down and on the lift.( not the best feeling) after calling ecs they were very apologetic and told me expect it tomorrow by 10am and again told me how sorry they were for the mess up. This speaks volumes about a company and service like that after a screw up has been why I have continued to give them my business. I am not biased towered any company but until I have a bad experience they will continue to get my business.

Have also driven many cars with the jhm kits in them as well... My buddy's have hammered the piss out of them. 200-300+ track passes. they are legit also. Another top notch company that makes GREAT parts. Both kits are about the same I think but I think both are great kits... Sorry for the rant but I'm a little exited! Will update as break in keeps going!

So how does the vibrations feel compared to a JHM/034 Single Mass Flywheel?

I've been running this for a year or so now and still love it. Grabs each gear well, still easily drivable. I don't get much chatter I can hear, but if you bog down a gear you will feel it in the cabin. Just calls for proper driving!

Ok so now I have put about 70-75 miles on the ra4 kit. I love it so far. Very drivable and the peddle is still much stiffer than the stocker but has that Oem feel still but a little more broke in feeling. Down low I think I can def notice faster acceleration and don't think it's in my head. The chatter is a little annoying but I have found you just can't drive exactly like you do with the stocker. Holding each gear longer for 250-350 rpm makes a huge differance in what you will hear and feel in the cab. But with the windows up you can't hear any chatter at all but you can def feel it when the car does not want to be in that gear as opposed to the dual mass letting it lug without shaking out of your drivers seat. Hold each gear a little bit longer and it's about non existent, even with window down.. Overall I am so far happy and will update after more miles. And as far as the jhm smfw go I believe the ones I drove had the one with the replaceable aluminum liner. I would not say it chatters more just maybe has a little different pitch to it, prob do to the aluminum. But as I said I know a few with them (jhm) with no problems and they beat on them pretty hard. The o34 one I'm not sure about but the jhm seems to be top notch as well and as far as I know there customer service is great as well. It came down to a couple deciding factors for me. 1. Service, ecs has been good to me so I figured why go else where.2. Price was cheaper than the jhm kit by $75 and I was low on funds but really needed a clutch. But if I had two a4 I'd build one with ecs and one with jhm as I respect both company's and trust there parts.

Thanks for all the feedback! Definitely not uncommon for a single mass LWFW to transfer more NVH when under load in a higher gears and low RPM. I have the RA4 in my B6 1.8T and it will def rattle the cabin pretty good if I'm lugging around in the wrong gear at too low of an RPM. Just the nature of a performance flywheel. I love the stiffer pedal feel and how the clutch engages right off the floor. Took me a little getting used to since my old clutch was heavily worn and had been adjusted all the way out it would release more towards the top.

It will handle 314ft/lbs torque. So it shouldn't be a problem supporting a K04 or similar turbo.
