Stock end links and hotchkis rear sway

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
PSA: oem end links very well may not be beefy enough for use with hotchkis rear sway. My bar is interfering with my rear axles. It has rubbed material away from both the bar end at upper bushing and axle. Its almost as if the end link is too tall not to interfere with axle, but that is likely due to the fact my end links have now separated from the lower bushing. Wtf!?

At best the sway bar is compromised and useless, need new end links and my axles are still useable. Worst case, axles need replaced too.

This has been one big headache since getting the car back.

First pic shows the wear mark best. Thats passenger side. Driver side is exact same. And the plastic span on both end links is all chewed up. I am not that low either and drive on level 2 more often than not, but for auto kick down on high speed highway cruises. Wtf!!!!!!

Damn that sucks man. Good that you posted this. You think brand new oem end links will solve problem or go aftermarket route?

Those were brand new oem end links to best of my knowledge. Part of a large build and my original bar and links were damaged. So, they certainly better have been new links, and trust they were.

I am thinking the 034 spherical rear links are highly recommended. Thats what I will be doing if I decide to get another rear bar. Might just put stock bars back on and say fuck it.

The rear bar is hard to buy alone. I already have an extra front bar because I didnt want to wait on hotchkis and distributors for just the rear.

Rear only p/n 22815R. It is impossible to find in stock. The full set 22815 can be had but not the rear alone. They say its available but lead time is at best end of may.

The front sway is pretty fat already so I am assuming that is why you didnt buy hotchkis front sway also? I wonder how many mm bigger it is over stock.

No, I do have the full set. The front hitchkis bar is on. I have an extra front because I ordered a new full set just to get the rear in a timely fashion. Basically have spent an extra 250 just to get rear replaced in timely fashion and looks like another 500 to do same again. Lol!

But ya, I considered just getting rear originally due to the large front. Coming from the b5 world, only the rear is usually replaced. Replacing front to larger almost keeps car at square one and still understeer.

I posed this question initially but all feedback in c5 section was replace both f/r.

    Hotchkis f is 35mm, r is 22mm

Can't figure out why the heck the end link is so chewed up in the center section? Guessing it was rubbing on the lower a-arm when it was still attached to the lower bush? Seems weird.

Wondering if the trans swap has changed rear geometry enough that everything isnt lining up properly. Very frustrating

I guess your only choice is 034 rear sway bar end links with your hotchkis bar. Might as well get 034 front sway bar end links as well. see how it feels and report back. Thats actually what I plan on doing soon.

Tell me about it man. I bought my c5 for 800, shipping cost me 650, tires and wheels 1100, misc parts 1500+. Numbers keep on adding up.

The metal on my bar end where bolted to upper link is worn away and it grooved my rear axles. I don't think I will be fortunate enough to simply replace end links. Shit is damaged.

If you paid for someone to install those, they have to cover the cost of a new sway, end links, any collateral damage, and labor, that is BS. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am confident it will be resolved and handled appropriately.
