Auto engine off not working

Another problem I found today is the engine off system stopped working. I usually have the button off. It
was cool out and I had the windows open so I turned it on to see if I can live with it on. Turned off once and
then stopped working. A white light with the system with and slash through it came up on the main dash between the
gauges. I tried diffferent drive modes and no difference. Some times the light would go away not the engine never
shut off. I tried different brake pressures and can feel the little switch/pressure point in the system but still nothing.

Two electrical gremlins all in the same day and the car only has 2400 miles and I had it 2 weeks. The Sat. system
was refusing to link up also. I am goign to go pull the car out again to verify. If its not working I will be taking it
to the shop today.

I have found that mine rarely actually shuts off! Maybe due to conditions, not sure.

Interesting. The system takes into account several different variables in deciding whether it will turn off, including engine temp and battery charge state IIRC. I actually had a fault for the system show up a couple days ago that cleared itself after the car sat overnight. Will be keeping an eye on it. 2016 S6.

Since they implemented the system to pay attention to how hard the brake pedal is pressed, I actually leave it on and press a little harder to shutoff only when I'm at one of the really long red lights. Much more convenient than the all or nothing system in our other car.

Can you enable auto stop on an S7 even if it doesn't have the button? Maybe for efficiency mode?

I know in S mode, the Auto start/stop won't activate no matter how hard you press the pedal. You'll get the "circle A" with a line across it. In D mode, I depends on factors like what Edwardg said. On hot days, I've had it activate for maybe 15 seconds despite having my foot firmly planted. It was hot out and AC was on.

I do the exact same thing as Edwardg. Leave it on and press the pedal all the way down at long lights.

The icon should go away though once you let go of the brake pedal. It should not still be lit in the instrument cluster.

If the car needs the A/C running it will override the start/stop. This is the main reason for the white A symbol with the line through it on the DIS. Switching to S mode or manusl will restart the engine and display the white symbol, as well.

I had the AC off and no fans going just the windows open, comfort mode and in D. It should have been shutting down but didn't seem to want too.
