As with most AC systems after hibernating all winter, it is most likely that the refrigerant has leaked out of the system. It happens because the lubricating oil in the HVAC system is not being circulated (i.e., AC remaining dormant for several months) and it makes the rubber seals dry up. When this happens, the gas leaks out. It is a good habit of using your car's AC system, at least, once a week for 10 minutes. When the A/C system is recharged with fresh refrigerant, it will include the lubricating oil. After getting a fresh charge of refrigerant, it is good to have the technician go over the A/C system pipes and joints using a leak detector to make sure there are no gas leaks.
