ok AZ lookiing for good opinions about converting to newer style fsi coils

as the title states, I may be needing to replace most or all of my oem original ignition components soon, my stage 3 is demanding the most and I fear that all my original stuff may not last. my car is a 2001.5 and roughly 126k mileage, as far as I know it has all oem coils and icms (except for 1 coil I recently replaced). Id like to get some real world experience and opinions on whether or not to do the fsi conversion or replace my oem stuff as it fails, which may be all at once, just never know.

    thanks in advance

There is a lot of info in this thread that was a few down from yours, you'll get tons of different opinions. Personally, if you aren't getting misfires or having performance issues with your OEM coils and ICMs, you won't notice much of a difference if at all switching to another style.

I did my stage 3 swap on my 2002 which had 120,000 miles and used all my OEM ignition stuff. Currently my car has 132,0000 miles and has no ignition issues so far. I would stick with your OEM ignition if it was working fine. No need to waste money on something that's not broken. And if you do get issues later down the road you can always change them out.

Go rs6 coil conversion. Bolts up like oem and ICMs are deleted. They are plug and play with the supplied harnesses

The point of this mod is not for added
performance it's to get rid of the ICM's
that are known to fail. Alot of so called
    mods are actually preventative maintenance
items. This one eliminates one of the many
    weak links in 2.7t platform.

This was my mentality when one of my oem coils started to produce misfires. Rather than invest any money into the oe setup, I went 2.0 coils so I could eliminate the icms.

thats kind of where I was headed with my decision. I know modern day non cap/rotor/coil ignitions are much more efficient and effective .. upgrading to say is more of a "changing to more reliable or inexpensive to replace in the future". I leaning towards finding plug and play harnesses I can purchase, if possible, eliminate the icms and then pick up some rs6 coils from the audi dealer.
