    Instrument cluster

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi to all.
    I am an owner of an A4 b5 1.8 quattro 1996 model .
    Full K03s , plus coilovers 18 rims etc ....
The car was my dad s and the last two years i use it .
No problems till now ......exept comons ...
Last month periodically the abs signal was coming so after search i realized that it s time for a new module.
By the way i decided to discard abs cause i prefer it this way.
I m very experienced to non abs so no problem .... especially in our slippery roads here ( Greece ) i can stop better ..

I m going to switch to non abs module with back porpotion but i want to get rid from the warnings in the dashboard .
I removed the cluster today .....its the 1 model with the analog clock (without numbers ) but it is european and its got immobilizer ...... the pin wirings i found here does nt match so the only i did was to unplug the abs bulb ....
But buzzer and the warning in the lcd remains stoping me to change screens ....

I was thinking if i can fit a resistor to the module wiring to avoid warnings or unpin any wire from the cluster wiring ......or anything else that i have nt found after lot of search ....
    Any ideas ????

Ps sorry for bad english .....

You need to locate the ABS wire in your instrument cluster plug, cut it and ground it. That will stop the warning.

    Thanks for the advice.

According to a wiring diagram i found .... meaning this .....http://http://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b5-platform-discussion-1/understanding-differences-between-audi-a4-clusters-compatibility-issues-2797763/page15/#post24802242
i checked all my pinouts but they where different ....maybe cause i got a europoean model with cluster 1 plus mmobilizer and dunno whatelse ..... So i m not sure which is the abs wire to ground it and test it .....

I can do this .... I can open the blue connector ....pinout one by one each wire ....ground it and check when the warning will go ....

Is that a good idea .... I dont have so much experience to electronics .... and i dont want to cause another trouble ......it would be much simpliier to know exactly which .....number on the connector or color ...is the abs wire .....

I'm in the UK, so your cluster configuration will be the same.

I would not ground out wires randomly, that's the best way to blow things up. I'll take a look at a wiring diagram when I'm home from work, and post the results here.

That link looks like it's for a B6 A4 (2002>). Even if it's for a B5, the facelift car wiring is very different - colours and pin outs are not the same as on an early ('96) B5.

Not sure if it will be the same since yours is a Euro model but here's a link for you. http://www.buckeyestangs.com/drew/te...luster_pinout/

It's not always ideal to go with wire colours...what is important is the PIN number AND it's function.

Could you post a clear picture of the connector in question?

    I think i found a solution .....

I found this http://http://www.sizov.org/audi/she...audi-a4-wd.pdf i went to page 21/40 and all the wires matches to mine plugs ....
As far as i relize pin 11 yellow/red is the same as mine and goes to abs module .....
So now i have to unpin it and ground it to stop warning messages ?

    Problem solved !!!!
First of all i want to thanks in public the member Nollywood that gave me solution .

So after all this if you have an audi b5 1996 ~ 2000 model and you want to discard abs and skip all the warning messages in your dashboard all you have to do is to locate the abs wire at the abs module plug .....cut it ....ground it and everything is fine !
