    Navigation not working

Hey guys, I need some help with fixing my navigation.

I was driving around all day yesterday and my navigation worked flawlessly. I parked for dinner and when I came back and started my car the MMI screen froze. I tried pushing all the buttons but nothing happened. I even tried the button to retract the screen but even that was frozen. I turned my car off, waited for a few seconds and re-started my car. The screen turned on but was still stuck on the same screen picture as before. Then the MMI reset out of nowhere and everything worked except for the navigation. The navigation screen booted but it said "Navigation is not activated" and nothing works in the navigation. No map, no menu, nothing, just stuck saying navigation is not activated.

I figured maybe everything will reset after the night but the same thing happened again today on the navigation screen. I tried resetting the MMI several times but no luck.

Any thoughts or advice? I'm going on a road trip next week and I don't have time to bring the S3 down to the dealer before then.

    Thanks!

This happened to me as well! But I had to take it to the dealer to fix. One thing I tried to do was download the map update files from myaudi and then install them on the mmi. But I couldn't get the DL to work from the website.

I have no clue, but did you check to make sure the SD card was pushed all the way in in the glove box? On my last car, when I accidentally bumped the card and it ejected without my knowing it, the Navigation did what you are describing until I pushed it back in.

The only SD card I have is my own personal one. Are you referring to a satellite SD card because I don't think I have one of those in my glove box.

You're going to have to take it in to the dealer. They may be able to restore the system. Only other option is to replace the unit.

Yes. When I bought my S3 the salesman installed a SD card that he said comes with the car for the Navi to work. It may have been for the satellite. Sorry, just thought I would mention it.

I've never heard of that before. My S3 didn't need an SD card.

Maybe they installed it before you picked it up. Look in your glovebox. They plugged an SD card into the port you look at when you open the door and look into the glovebox. I watched them insert mine.

I know where the SD card slot is. There is definitely 100% not a card in it, and my navi works currently. So does XM radio and all the other connections.

SD card was for your AT&T connect.

Good luck on the Navi fix. Just take it to the dealer.

you must be confusing the SD card with the SIM card.
