I bought a genuine Ross-Tech VAG-COM Hex+Can dongle from a coworker yesterday. I used the latest VCDS release to generate a report and am happy that all module statuses reported as OK. Although my transmission, shifting though gears 1 to 3, has been smoothed out with merely a battery disconnect (for 2 hours) and reconnect, I still wonder if there are later ECU/TCU updates that will make any further fuel economy gains, shifting smoothness, etc.
Two questions:
1) Engine reports a H07 revision. Auto Trans reports a H05 revision. Are there later updates that produce any noticeable/observable changes to the driver that are worth the cost for the out-of-warranty trip to the dealer?
2) There are ways to modify the TCU to disable DSP. My code, 0000002, shows the DSP mode as enabled. According to other forum posts on the topic, changing to 0000012 should be the code to disable the DSP. I highly dislike the "D" mode feel and favor "S" and "M" modes but sometimes opt for the fuel economy and convenience of "D" for start and stop traffic. Wondering if the coding change may help at all? I plan to do this mod anyway within the next few days, but would like any input you all may have.
