Lease Excess Wear Waiver Worth It?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My dealership is offering the Lease Excess Wear Waiver for $1,199 which would ensure I do not have to pay for the following items when returning my vehicle at the end of the lease:

    - Dents
    - Scratches
    - Windshield and other glass damage
    - Bumper damage
    - Upholstery damage
    - Worn tires
    - Damaged wheels/rims

Any thoughts on these programs? I know there are typically big markups on these types of packages but not sure. Also, they have the Audi Care package for $945.00 which would cover my first 4 service visits which apparently saves me $600.00.

    Thanks

I would say pass on excess wear. Also I believe it might be negotiable. But it all depends on how you care for your cars and the environment you are in. Or if you think you will purchase the car or actually turn it in. I would read the fine print to see exactly what is covered. Audi Care is generally viewed as a good deal though and it adds a point to the residual value of the car.. If I am not mistaken that too is negotiable. And pretty sure the MSRP for audicare is 850. But it's usefulness to you depends on your yearly mileage and length of lease.

Pass. Leased cars get turned in all the time with minor dings, scrapes, curbed wheels, and interior scuffs. Most people do not keep them in mint condition. Dealers rarely care, especially if you are leasing a newer car.

AudiCare is less of a rip off, but it still is. You're 'saving' money over ridiculous dealer retail prices. The AudiCare service is basic oil changes and stuff. You could have it done at any shop for 1/2 the AudiCare price. It is nice to have it pre-paid though, and if it bumps up the lease residual it may be worth it.

For me the cost of Audi-care was basically covered with a 1% bump In residual so it was basically for free - a no brainier

I would do Audi care, because it is nice to have usually cheaper than paying for each service individually and it bumps residual. On the excess wear, this is if you are really rough on the car. I can't remember exact specifics but I think you have a buffer of 400$ per panel without the excess wear. So door dings are usually covered, a ding on the hood is fine, but tires and Windows need to be in good shape on turn in... But tires are easy to solve, get a pair of lightly used tires off of Craigslist before you turn it in.

Thanks... decided to go with Audi Care and passed on everything else.
